As long as the existing dash finish is sound and not boast, remove as much old stone as possible and this will give you a good key to render onto. Best basecoat to use will be HP12 basecoat then if hand applying the silicone FT k rend.
hi markie,

k rend can offer you a range of external finishes suitable for blockwork - may be worth your while checking out our website to see if you would like to receive any samples of the finishes available.
As outlined in the application instructions krend should not be applied under 5 degrees celsius. krend also offer an accelerator now to help speed up the curing process hence this may be worth noting on your next job since this will help you scrape the render quicker than in normal conditions.
onto brick and block you would be best advised to use a polymer basecoat with a mesh embedded in this - this will help reduce cracking and help to strengthen the render. there will not be a significant difference between using k rend and sand and cement - long term you will have to paint...
it is possible to over-coat existing krend with another thin layer of k-rend - using our R7 acrylic bonding aid.
however, rendering onto a substrate such as a render carrier board this may not be possible since this type of render carrier may not be able to hold the additional weight of the render.
krend onto existing brick - is always best to clean surface & any algae first, then apply the R7 acrylic bonding aid, HP12 (AND OR HPX base if you prefer) before application of your silicone topcoat.
all K rend specifications for scraped textured renders outline that after applying the silicone FT (final coat) that you should 'rule to line and level and allow to set' , before scraping. this helps to eliminate the chances of large tolerances in the surface of the render when complete.
R7 Acyrlic is a modified acrylic emulsion used to improve the adhesion of K rend renders to difficult substrates, where the background does not supply sufficient key or has poor suction characteristics. the material is usually diluted before use and may be used in various ways including as a...
it is possible to over-coat k rend scraped textured product with another thin layer of render, best way to do this is to use R7 acrylic - mixed 1:4 with water and whilst it is wet and tacky render directly onto this at a thickness of 8mm - then scrape back to 6mm. however this will only be...
onto painted render, you will need to apply hp12 base coat to a thickness of 3-4mm and whilst still 'green' embed krend polypropylene scrim. whilst still 'green' drill and mechanically fix (1 in 9 should be s/ steel) in a diamond pattern at 450mm centres and immediately overcoat with a further...
krend is widely available in your area - let me know where you are based and your email address of contact no, and we will let you know where you can source materials,
to render onto EPS, you will use our HP14 basecoat (6mm), with mesh embedded into this whilst wet then topcoat to use will be our TC Primer and (1.5mm or 3mm) Silicone TC thincoat render topcoat. total thickness will be 8mm - if you would like a spec please forward email address and i will sort...
If you are looking for technical specifications to render onto insulation / boards / block / & other substrates as required using a thin coat render please forward any queries to me and i should be able to assist you with this,
Silicone TC is a ready to use organic resin render which is...
K rend will be able to offer you a technical spec for their thincoat render onto site cast concrete - you will probably need to clean surface, remove any dirt & residue, then apply a liquid acrylic, polymer modified basecoat and mesh before application of TC Primer and Silicone TC15 topcoat...
only way you will be able to render over existing painted surface will be to either remove 90% (need to scabble this off existing surface) of the paint, then use k rend HPX polymer modified basecoat with mesh then silicone topcoat.
alternatively, you can render directly onto this with the HP12...
Liv Builders, average coverage of the HP12 basecoat per m2 will be approx. just over 2 m2 per 25 bag.
or put another way, you will require approx. 8-11kg / sq m approx. for a nominal thickness of 4-6mm.
hand applied silicone ft / and or wp top coat for a nominal thickness of 10mm you will...
