    Thanks mate - I've gone with foam to fill the big gaps, and bonding to build it up a bit. Skimming tomorrow. Then probably phoning a spread to come and rip it out to do it properly.

    Ok let me make this clear - the wallpaper was hiding crumbling plaster. On taking off some wood screwed into the wall above the window, it's become clear the plaster is knackered.
