so, being a lonely old plasterer from mid Wales was wondering if the forum ever has a get together p**s up.
Surely being spreads this is mandatory?
But seriously would love to catch up with some of you dudes.
So I’ve been looking for a lad to join us on render/skim/screed jobs but doesn’t seem to be may out there?
Years ago people use to say get a trade under you belt won’t do you wrong!
I’m in mid Wales/Shropshire boarder if anyone is interested!
Drove the van trough customs with sign writing. He asked me “what you got in the van??” I said plastering tools! He looked at the van and said Oh yeah, carry on!
(I know great story right!)
Great working abroad though.
Is there more of a board that is fixed with Metal lath in it and then highbuild onto?
Sounds like it’s not so much as a plasterers job by who’s doing it!
so I went to site today to price up some coloured render and the builder says that there’s another chap who’s pricing some sort of a system with metal mesh and thin top coat troweled on to a stipple affect.
Anyone done or heard of this system?
Been using Cemfloor (a cement based liquid screed) since January and find it great stuff with no need to sand any latence.
Question is how far can it be traveled?
The company providing it say no more than 1hr 1/2 but always seems ok when we get it!
Any horror stories when it’s been in the...
In that case make sure you warn the customer about the potential risks especially if there’s traffic above.
I’d probably take off high lumps with a scraper, use a blue grit or make sure you do your first pass of skim when pva is tacky. But don’t rush to put second coat on leave it a bit. May...
I found the 12mm beads ok to work out to, not sure I’d want to put it on much thicker. Took a good hour to stiffen ready for the next coat!
Scratched up nice though. But took a good 12 - 16hrs to be ready. This time of year.
Finish was ok, but don’t like doing dark colours and grey just looks...
To be fair looks like top four are already sorted but like what’s been said good fight for 2nd.
Only LFC will probably beat united but lose to stoke!
Champions league still looking tasty though.
Funny enough I offered that on Friday.
But he said someone’s picking it up Monday for £5,750 cash.
Did try explaining that claim the VAT back and 20% off tax bill even new comes in at around £6k.
But he was addiment on selling for cash. Sounds a bit dodgy presuming he’s already claimed VAT...
I’m not sure the best way around it to be honest.
Maybe ring your local k-rend rep and ask them the most economical way around it.
Maybe what was said before and use 10mm beads over the top but cut back the revels with a grinder.
Not sure if you’d have to use a primer on the render first though.
No to be fair, I rendered my own house 8years ago and is probably worse than this. As you get more experienced with the materials the better you become.
But invest in proper tools, they’re essential!
You use a machine on your own??
How do you manage mix, spray, rule and flatten on your own?
I left the SP11 with material in the pipe for 3/4 hr after spraying a 140m2 wall and it hardened in the pipe, smashing f**k out of the pipes for the next 1hr made sure I never did it again!
Already done mate!
Awaiting a reply
But also with a bit of research the PFT Machine looks good for domestic but a bit worried about 240v on sites or even domestic especially when I have people working for me, insurance wise?
can I just say that I have been using this forum for advice and info for a fair few years now and find when ever I google a plaster issue it comes up with a solution.
Only recently started posted but find it very addictive!
Anyway hi and my names James.
Just looking at the traveling for me and PFT central is 2 1/2 hrs away and PFT Wales is 2 1/2hrs away so in a right predicament now!
What’s the deal with the PFT trade name and 2 separate companies?? Or is that a sore subject!
Think I was reading your post earlier!
How do you find the Ritmo in comparison to the V2, presume you use that for larger scale rendering??
Is it a lot more controllable on smaller jobs
Would you say that’s the best bet as far as working on domestic sites?
Looking back at a few threads sounds like this discussion has done the rounds!
I haven’t looked at the Ritmo L but looks like I might have to see the both in action.
Problem is time is money
