You've been taught wrong mate, work to the suction of the plaster. After the first coat flatten out then wait till it firm's up and stick second coat on ,no sponge b*ll***s.
No it's not, multi drags on board and goes off all of a sudden whereas board on different backgrounds tend's to take ages to pull in so you have to work to the suction.
Just a plasterer never joined a forum before, find it interesting.Answering old threads as most of them are and have apoint of view, seems like you are too.
All the same then renters know everything about anything but when it comes to your job know fook all.Have to work for them now again always cutting corners and then have the cheek to say what you could of done better.
Use a retarder[slowing]such as rendamix or waterproofer depending time of year temp etc.Takes lots of trial and errors when you have not done much like myself.
You did right with pva,let it pull in a bit or just chuck it on.Flatten, then wait till the suction take's.It's all a matter of patience then when it start's stiffening up put second coat on.If air bubbles still present when trowelling up wait a while and use as little water as possible.
yep, agree, maybe concrete block fireplace bond, skimmbead angles, skrimm behind, use b/adhesive after screwing to wood bead. That's how i'd do it, no comeback's.If they don't like that tell em to shuve it.
It's not all about top money is it.To be good you have to adapt to every new job,new work is piss easy but start on old build you've got to use your noggin and if you can't do that your fooked and be gone in 6 months so don't knock yourselves boys we are top craftsmen and possibly women?
Well if you must know you have Integralwaterproofer and waterproofer which are different. The first use on scratch coat to kill suction evenly on your wall and help stopping salts coming througth and forming crystals to stop penetrating damp on your wall. The latter is more of retarder...
Willing to work your b*ll***s off everyday doing whatever.Want to learn the trade own transport and cos you need the money for your family would do for me.
Maybe with sand and cement, not plaster use a gauger that's what they're for.Don't like them gorrilla buckets, get a tall 25ltr one ,spot board ,gauger and stop being lazy.
If you've no money you'll do any s**t job going to a point.Thing's are only going to get worse for at least the next 5years,the good years have gone so time to roll up yer sleeves and take it on the chin.
Oreyt brett and anyone else new meself.Good website this only found this website by chance.Time served plasterer from years back and just nearing completing nvq fibrousplastering ,amazing how much more you can learn when you think about it.Take me hat off to the plasterers 100 years back...
Takes time to build up customers,do a good job big or small and you'll get recommended.Once advertised in local paper for 3 months got a days skimming.Competition is massive now just got to take the rough with the smooth.
Waddington fine wash, which is quarried where i come from.It is a well graded sharp sand not your river shite which can have to much silt content.scratch coat 4-1 Integralwaterproofer, leave to cure for a few days.Second coat 5-1.also don't use wet sand as it will have bulked.
