I appreciate your opinion Andy and realise that they won't be for everyone and we're not trying to force anything onto people that see no need to change what they are doing.
There has been a lot of positive feedback and those that have decided to give them a go have found them useful. Hopefully...
Thanks, I'm glad you like them.
You're not the first to ask about a deal and we're looking into something for a limited number of pairs so I'll get back to you soon
Hi John, yes there are some videos on our website at www.boardbars.co.uk
We are in the process of editing a video for vaulted ceilings at present and will also be adding some extra video's in the near future.
Thanks, they are well made and will give long service. As much as we'd like a cheaper price we weren't prepared to compromise quality especially when working overhead.
We are prepared for a slow growth as it takes a while to establish a new product but then everything was new once and as the...
The boardmate product is what my business partner used to use but felt they didn't really cut it and still required a prop meaning the board was wedged in place and not easily moved or trimmed if needed.
The lifter as discussed previously is quite a big piece of kit and needs a clear floor...
there are loads of different techniques and methods out there and varying bit's of equipment in a wide variety of price ranges.
We're not dismissing any alternatives but we've just tried to come up with something that overcomes the restrictions of the other options.
Yeah they normally do, and Jules is very much involved in the business as an equal partner.
Although Jules had the original idea, we had equal input into the prototypes and development of final product.
And I'm sure that in that time a lot of equipment has come along to make the job easier, such as battery powered screwdrivers and multi tools etc.
That's exactly what we are trying to do........make your job easier.
Because he had an idea on how to make the job easier but didn't know exactly how to go about developing it into a finished product, which is where I came in.
Of course some people will continue to use their favoured method and all we're doing is offering an alternative. After all not everyone uses wooden props so they are looking for alternatives.
Hi Bof,
1. The length of the aluminium extrusion (the part that is screwed to the joist) is 880mm. However, they can be used at angles across the joists if needed in tight or awkward spaces.
2. I'm feeling that your secret is that you would like to have a set of Boardbars in your toolkit?
Thank you very much for the honest review Richard.
I think most things are perhaps seen as a bit expensive initially when they first come to market and hopefully in time we may be able to adjust that but it's a bit of a catch-22 at the moment in that we need sales to enable ordering bigger...
Obviously when you fit the last board you have little option but to screw it to the joists through a previously fitted sheet and therefore the last sheet will be supported slightly further away from the joists and need lifting a bit as you screw it up. However, as the last board is likely to...
The initial costs haven't been as high as expected as I'm an engineer and was able to sort certain things by calling in a few favours. The biggest shock was the cost of good quality materials which we didn't want to cut corners on.
The ability to move the board into position or to trim at...
Thanks for the interest.
We wrangled over the price a lot and when we started out we had visions of making them much cheaper, however as we worked through the design and testing it quickly became clear that if we wanted to make then strong, durable and long lasting then we needed stronger...
If you're happy with the way you do it then that's absolutely fine. I don't put up plasterboard ceilings but my business partner does and it was him that came up with the original idea as he felt there had to be an easier way than using props etc or using a lifter and I'm inclined to agree with him.
Hi I,m Richard and a partner at Boardbars Limited.
We designed the product specifically for a lot of member's on this forum to overcome some of the problems encountered with plasterboarding ceilings.
You can see the product at https://boardbars.co.uk and we welcome any input.
Cheers, Richard
Obviously we are in competition with these lifts and there's pros and cons to both products.
Boardbars take up far less space in your van and need no assembly/dismantling. Also boardbars need no clear flat floor space and could even be used above stairs or on very high ceilings.
Thanks for bringing these up in a discussion, it gives us a bit of exposure and a chance to interact directly with the group of people we designed the product for.
I have only just joined your forum and I'll go through all the post's and try to address all the points.
