    multi peeling off ?!

Not particularly hot here on Saturday. All 3 ceilings were pretty much the same throughout. It was a cold breeze here on Saturday. Every ceiling and even a little sheltered wall and door head he did as a test had the same result. He rang me so I could sort out some decent gear for Monday...

    multi peeling off ?!

Update. I've been to the job this morning to see for myself. He's got over it best he can but is going over one of them again today. I will upload some pics later when I get home. Another twist is that when he washed up he says the water went frothy and smelled odd. Also I've looked in some of...

    multi peeling off ?!

Thanks for the input lads. The Unifinish theory sounds most likely to me. I've been in this game 20 years plus and this guy is the best I've come across ( I never said he was 's**t hot') so it's nothing basic like letting a breeze through or getting on it too soon. I'll be on Encons case in the...

    multi peeling off ?!

My Spread called me yesterday all stressed as he had 3 ceilings on,second coated and had started trowelling in. He said that it was all 'peeling off on me'. This is all onto fresh plasterboard and using new multi (all delivered from Encon on Monday). He described it as like putting bonding onto...

    re***ds

I agree mostly with what's been said, but bear in mind every room is now virtuaily pitch black, we're talking changing rooms, shower rooms, plant and store rooms here- no windows. added to to current weather it's about 40 degrees in there now during the day. not saying it's impossible but...

    re***ds

Started a big tacking job Monday, swimming pool changing rooms etc etc. about 1200 metres of tacking to do. I'm told i can't do any ceilings yet as they need a polythene membrane first- the chippy's will do this I'm told-. So I start on walls first just to get started. ceilings are 3.6m high and...

    Knauf Drywall Adhesive

I've tried the minimum of mixing with it, - seems to make no difference to me. On a wall with lots of services I might cut boards first, but not a normal straight wall with a few switches- I don't have time to do things twice, putting up, taking down and putting back up again is not a very...

What sort of quantities you guys knocking up. With BG I'd do a 3 bags mix and timings would be just right. Knock up even 2 bags of Knauf and I'm gonna struggle to use it all.

    Fixing Fermacell Boards

Starting a job monday with these boards. We've tacked loads of normal boards there already on a price. Just wanted to gauge opinion on how to charge for fixing these. i.e. double or triple the price or just get a good day rate. What would those of you who've used it before do if you were asked...

Can I use regular 15mm TE plaster board in a kitchen or Bathroom?

No Problems with using them at all. they are easier to work with and stronger. Be aware though that you can't dot and dab with vapour (foilback) boards. they are for screwfixing only.

    Plasprime problem

The concrete is almost a polished type finish, so I can see why they'd assume it won't stick, there is no real key on it. I will try it on bare concrete when I can but they are on your back constantly and don't seem to care that it's failing- 'it's your problem mate, it's what the spec says'...

    Plasprime problem

I've had loads of dot and dab fall off the walls (smooth cast concrete building)after splashing plas-prime on it. it doesn't seem to matter how long it's left to dry. some areas take and others don't. I'm still experimenting as to why !! I don't trust it anywhere really but keeping getting told...

    hangar spacings for mf grid

Thanks for the input fellas, nice to know that there was a valid reason for all that extra drilling.(nearly 300 holes in that slab now, and there was a lot of metal in amongst it all) I pity the poor sod who was there today insulating it with what looked like 150mm rigid slab rockwool !! I...

    hangar spacings for mf grid

Doing an outside walkway in MF. it needs to take a 9mm masterboard/concrete board (not sure exactly) and then a 9mm render. Agent has insisted that the hangers go in at 300mm centres. Anyone every done anything as close as that ! I reckon we could've hung the Titanic under that lot. It was a run...

    MF material prices

Not sure on price per metre but Minsters offer BG and Speedline products. Speedline is quite a bit cheaper and as far as i can tell-exactly the same. you can buy in small amounts i.e. 1 of this 2 of that. Only a guess but most components are about £1.10 -1.30 per linear metre top end.

    Cash work

It occurred to me that the thread might go this way. Tax avoidance by the tradesman is not the real issue i'm trying to discuss. Mixer Recomendations For Beginner

a decent transformer would be £50+ so there's that to consider in your budget. As with all tools in all trades, you mostly get what you pay for. Buy cheap- don't expect it to last so long. spend a bit more and it'll serve you well.
