    Shoulder

This weather doesnt do the muscles or joints any good. Before you start work, try and warm up the joints by doing shoulder rotations, and flexing the elbows and wrists. The movement gets the synovial fluid (like oil within the joints), and muscles and tendons warm, and will make you much less...

    I've seen this course advertised......

I've never heard of the place mate, but best of luck with it if you do. Oh, you'll need these; ,.():;!£?/ as Spunky will be along in a minute to give his 2cents worth. Just add the punctuation where you see fit. Good luck.

    Good Quality Tools

A nifty little trick for ebay is to type Marshalltown with just one 'L'. Most poeple don't see the listing so you can get a bargain as no one bids. I picked up a brand new gold 13in stainless for £20.

    Bad habits

Damnit, internet cut out. Andy, Like currier says, I was talking about the sash brush (aka dog dick) in the internals. Spunky, turnover doesnt equal profit. Stop bragging falsities on the internet you little keyboard warrior. The fact you talk so loudly about how much you earn, while...

    Bad habits

WTF? Those questions were based on peoples opinions on here not mine. I use a brush on internals, I use my finger in beads, I asked because people were saying otherwise on this forum. As for clueless piece of s**t,**Deep breath**; you stuggle to string more then two words together on a good...

    Bad habits

lol, I don't know about the beads, I just saw it in a thread, wish I had asked at the time now. Not brushing in the angles sort of makes sense to me as it seems it may weaken the plaster or fill with it with fat? Just wanted to guage peoples opinions on them and see if people mention anything...

Cheers lads. Beddy, do you have a seperate bucket for cleaning your trowels or just use the one with your splash brush? 'Dog cock brush' LMAO:RpS_lol:

    Bad habits

Yet again spunky you've completly missed the point and tried to start a war in an otherwise innocent thread. I was asking about those because some people do it and others don't because they were taught differently or just don't like it. At this stage in the game I couldnt care less about...

    Bad habits

I was just wondering what sort of bad habits or practices people here don't like to see on site/domestic from other plasterers. What do people do that makes you cringe or sets alarm bells off? I saw in another thread somewhere that someone mentioned 'cleaning beads with there fingers' (which...

Should Asbestos Artex Be Removed Licenced Contrators?

Good advice, there has also been cases of workers going back home and hugging there children who have also become ill from the contaminated clothing. Scary s**t.

Should Asbestos Artex Be Removed Licenced Contrators?

I would say most people wouldnt even dream of paying the cost to have it professionally removed. Asbestos is everywhere in older houses. So long as its in good nick and left alone its fine. How often does the average homeowner actually drill into the ceiling apart from the odd light fixture...

    what mixers

My evolution mixer does just that, but not sure yet how it will last in the long run. Cheers for the reccomendation, I'll look into the alfra.
  22. K

    what mixers

I think most on here will reccomend the refinas etc. but for what its worth the training centre I'm at uses a collomix mixer. It gets battered 7 days a week (bonding, drywall adhesive, krend, multi) with no grumbles and has plenty of power. The only thing I dont like about it is the whisk...

    lights

The defender lights are on sale at screwfix right now if thats of any use. I bought one the other day and it definatly chucks out some good light. The plasterers striplights like beddy says are pants, mines going on ebay as soon as possible. You can have it for half what I paid if you like...

    new trowel

So is there any science behing which length/width trowel to use for finishing, or is it just personal preference? I'm using a 14x5 gold marshalltown for most things, and my old 13x5 carbon for rendering.

    painting as a sideline

This will get some boys on here angry- my mate was telling me he saw a plasterers van that said 'Plastering and Fencing'!!!!! I s**t you not. Chris I have a mate whos a chippy, if theres a lot of woodwork I'll be handing the jobs to him as he has sent a lot my way in the past.

Hawk, trowel, filling knife, tin snips, hammer, staney knife should be a good start and not cost too much.

    painting as a sideline

Yeah, its an odd one but like Andy says, its useful!:RpS_thumbsup: Anyway, it would be nice to see a job through from start to see the finished result. I was a carpet fitters apprentice for a few years working for a local familly firm.
  32. K

    painting as a sideline

I offer painting, fitting skirting boards, and carpet fitting as my sidelines.
  33. K

    painting as a sideline

I hope you don't do painting as a sideline spunky??? Its a four year apprenticeship, and you are only aloud to stir the paint for the first 8 months.
  34. K

    ragni kits

Its true about carbon. Carbon steel knife blades get sharper, and are easier to sharpen. Only problem is they can chip easier then stainless, and they rust. So I'm guessing the same applies to trowels.
  35. K

    ragni kits

No, I prefer to just stick the handle up my hoop.:RpS_thumbup:
  36. K

    ragni kits

....naah, too hard, I prefer to use my splash brush because its soft, wet n hairy.
  37. K

    ragni kits

The ragni bucket trowel is good but the midget trowel is shite, ditched mine, spend the extra and get the Marshalltown if you can.

Free Offer to prove courses are better than no training

Either they had just come off a one week course, or they came from a s**t course. At GT you are mixing from day one. On the first week the odd mix sometimes comes out a bit sloppy, or a bit stiff, but by week two you are guarenteed a good mix everytime. As for skrimming, sounds like you hired...

Free Offer to prove courses are better than no training

Welcome to the forum mate. No doubt I featured in a few of those arguments lol. Don't fret too much over it, goldtrowel is starting to get a good rep amoungst experienced spreads that have seen it. Check out flynnys review in the venetian section for proof. I don't blame people for having...
