    Client being funny!!

Apparently she has a recording of me saying we were working under strict time constraints and that ultimately its affected our work. I did say that yes in regards to the pebbledash and i said il re do it. The builder has £2500 outstanding and hes tryna tell me that UCATT have said we havent a...

    Client being funny!!

Ok so i took all your advice and saw this as a learning curve and accepted to take of the back and gable of the house and re do it. Problem is the customer has said she doesn't like pebbledash and wants everything ripped off and redoing in tyrolean at our cost!! Surely this cant be right? This...

In regards to rendering garden walls... Do you have to put a bell bead on the bottom or can you just go to the floor. This is just a garden wall i would never do this on a house

This job has been anything but organised. Being told to scratch up walls before theyve cut and knocked out doorways and bricked up others. Its been a joke. Working to the builder Wont be working for him again.

The builder was happy with us making amendments. To be honest the client is pulling some of the builders work also trying to get extras for free.

UK Scaffolding erected it but I have nothing to do with them. The job is done through a builder of which we are subbying to

    Client being funny!!

Hi all I would like some advice on how to handle a situation I am in. I have just pebble dashed a full back of a terraced house. The end result looks really great however there is the banding line where the scaffolding level meets the wall, ( in this case was very close to the wall) I found it...

    Sand & cement render

Just to clarify I can do the calculation easily its not maths that I struggle with I simply wanted confirmation that what I was originally doing was correct as unfortunately for me I have nobody around me to confirm it, thus why I asked on here. Although I asked what 1:30 means in English I...

    Sand & cement render

Hi people Im struggling to understand the ratios of waterproofing. The waterproofer im currently using for rendering is a cementone one from TP. On the back it says add waterproofer to gauging water at 1 part solution to 30 parts water. What exactly does this mean in english?

    External render/internal

Is there a reason why Sika isnt used for external render? Is it designed to hold back water penetration from the substrate as opposed to Ext. render which stops rain penetration?

    External render/internal

Great thanks for that. I was just curios as many plasterers seem to be confused on which coat it goes in and my last rendering job I put waterproofer in the scratch and the float was piss wet through for hours. It was however at the latter end of winter so outside temperature was at least 4 or 5...

    External render/internal

Thankyou, is there a technical reason for it being in the scratch do you know? and what brand of waterproofer?
  20. S

    External render/internal

By the way the reason I have posted in the damp section is because I am also wondering if you need to use a different waterproofer when S/C internally say on a treated damp wall or small section of basement wall

    External render/internal

Hi everyone I have had a look through the posts but not quite yet found an answer I am looking for. Just a quick one... When applying an external S/C render in which coat do you apply waterproofer, and also is say 'Cementone plasticiser, retarder and waterproofer good enough? Much appreciated..

    Wetherby Training course...

That's the exact one i have booked onto on the 20th of this month. I did a similar sort of thing back in 2007 when i was only an apprentice and found it really easy and enjoyable but I didn't know the theory behind it as I was just told what to do then. Not touched it since then and would like...

Have you ever used it since? Just trying to stay up to date and with the industry going all Eco friendly I am assuming EWI will become bigger than it already is.

    Wetherby Training course...

Hi all, I am looking to book on a course at wetherby building solutions to learn ewi and thin coat silicone render. I originally wanted to go to goldtrowel but it is a fair distance and the cost of the course plus travel and diggs is looking expensive. I just wanted to know if its all the same...

    sponge floats on multifinnish

Ive never used the sponge either... was taught by an old spread who frowns at anything modern. Im open to it if it makes the job easier which is why i have purchased both the speedskim and the plazzi. The speed skim is fantastic but i feel its best used to flatten after your rough on. Using it...
