Bit of old school advice pls ..

To AndyR, Not wishing to start WW3 but you were probably right the first time. Impossible to be certain without taking a look at it though. I do mostly lime work these days and if you want to do it in lime 2.5:1 sharp sand to lime NHL3.5 or NHL2 for the scratch & float coats is fine with...

    transit connect van

I had one for 3 years until recently & apart from being a bit slow it was a fantastic van. Sold mine to another plasterer who is also really happy with it. Plenty of torque and good ground clearance, ideal for remote sites (most of my work is lime ion old buildings). I bought a 3 seat van as...

    Stapling beads

I was told that it's not a good idea to use staples because they're not galvanised (I haven't checked this claim yet). I've seen plasterers use all sorts of nails & I doubt they were all galvanised or non ferous. Do you think staples are more likely to rust through?

    KNAUF finish

sorry, I have no idea why I put the word "lime" in there, must be obsessed. Thanks for the info, getting an idea of how it works. Guess it'll all come clear when I've done a couple of walls. It's for the TV programme DIY SOS......sponsored by Knauf apparently. Cheers IanB

    KNAUF finish

Hi, I've been asked to work on job where we'll be using knauf finish on boards. Some of the other lads didn't seem too keen but I didn't get the chance to ask why. Anyone out there used Knauf lime finish? Any problems? How does it differ from Multifinish ir Board finish? Thanks in advance...

    Ian North Wales Lime

Yes I love doing the lime stuff, fat & NHL. My favourite work is internal plastering. I've been lucky to do mostly that kind of work, all word of mouth. I do prefer it to Gypsum/sand&cement, it's more satisfying somehow.

Off work at the moment due to an emergency op, should be back in a week or so. Been plastering for 5 years, had a gut full of my old sales job so went back...
