    Where's the fat gone?

    Miss the sirapite.

Damp and mould on new dot and dab boards

See this a lot on sites in winter. The walls have had a good soaking so blocks are full of moisture. Doors and windows open for a few days will help but if it was my place I would remove boards and give it a few weeks to dry

Multi is it really that bad ?

Mostly yeah. I think board is cheaper than multi now though so that might change. I haven't used board finish in years
  4. S

    Ripped off at merchants

Travis P are the ones that charged £4.80 for a bead

Multi is it really that bad ?

Did a morning on one site, multi was shite. Drove to another site in the afternoon to do a hit and the multi there was totally different. Funny old stuff.

    Rambotools

Problem with a Plaster ceiling I just hired out... Any advise?

Skimming over boards that have been up ages is a nightmare. A good spread would spot they've been up a long time, they've got an I've been up ages look about them

    Ripped off at merchants

I usually use trade point or wickes purely cos I find it quicker to get in and out. Plus most my work is on site so rarely buy materials. I only used this particular supplier cos it was close by. Next time I will rather drive across town than get shafted.

    Ripped off at merchants

Just made me laugh when I told them average price for them was 2 quid they said they couldn't do them for that! I said every other supplier is! Won't be buying from them again.
  10. S

whats the best plastering tip/advice youve been giving

Best advice I had? One of the spreads came in the room and said " there's a cafe down the road and its next door to a pub"

    Ripped off at merchants

Has anyone on here noticed huge price differences on materials from one merchant to the next? I bought a 2.4 bead from Jewsons yesterday and with vat it was £2.06. This morning went to another well known merchant and they charged a whopping £4.80!!! I said it can't be right and what I paid day...

Does anyone actually love plastering still

37 years of it now and hate it in winter. Summertime is OK though.
  13. S

    Stilts

I wouldn't want to fall off those. Hope he's on a very good price.
  14. S

Anyone notice more b&q's closing down.

I've read that because the first rung of the home ownership ladder is out of reach now until your in your late 30s, there's no new customers coming through the doors to buy stuff for their homes. Most of the younger people rent now so they aren't buying diy materials.

New van time anybody got a new trafic/vivaro?

    Feeling very sleepy,very, very sl

    Nela Medi flex

Its having the time to be on here mate. I don't get time. Good lads on here though and love the banter. Don't seem to be any laughs on site anymore so its good to see on here
  17. S

    Nela Medi flex

Lol! I'm not on here much so don't know anyone on here really.
  18. S

    Nela Medi flex

Lol! I'm just giving my personal opinion. Im not on here much at all, first time in over a year now. Only logged in to get some advice about Nela sf 2.
  19. S

    Nela Medi flex

Each to there own Flynny. I used to be the same,2 trowels one for skimming and breaking one in on s&c but tried the Nela sf and I love it!
  20. S

    Nela Medi flex

So how many regular trowels have you got in your van? I bet you got more than one?
  21. S

    Nela Medi flex

True but I won't be ditching my drill and going back to mixing by hand any time soon Lol!!
  22. S

    evolution paddle mixer

While on the subject has anyone here got a Belle 1600e promix? As I'm thinking of buying one. Any good?
  23. S

    evolution paddle mixer

I bou I bought one for a back up while my other drill was being repaired. Evolution twister. Lasted a week. Probably cos I took the tiny paddle it comes with off and put a bigger one on.
  24. S

    Nela Medi flex

I think its all down to timing. Every set is different. Some days it sets nice and others it hangs like fcuk.Tiger stripes been around longer than Nela sf.
  25. S

    s*p*r*lex 2

    OK Ryan cheers!
  26. S

    s*p*r*lex 2

Mine wasn't bought from Plasterers 1 stop shop. I got it from a supplier on eBay so may have to contact them.
  27. S

New van time anybody got a new trafic/vivaro?

The Isuzu engines that are in some combos are bullet proof. Mines done 165k now and no problems.
  28. S

    s*p*r*lex 2

I quite like the cork handle. This is my third Nela s*p*r*lex and really like them. Just thought the black coating would iron out the problem of water getting in. Its obviously there for that reason.
  29. S

    Stilts

Durastilts. Best thing I ever bought. 12 years old now and still good as when I bought them plus the new Velcro leg straps are way more comfy on the leg. Fk all that boards and tressles lark.
  30. S

    s*p*r*lex 2

Nela s*p*r*lex mk2. I thought the black coating was to give extra protection? My first s*p*r*lex delaminated but that was apparently a bad batch. Other lads I work with have had mk2 quite a while and no sign of the black film lifting even when they are put in a bucket of water overnight.
  31. S

    s*p*r*lex 2

Anyone had the black stuff peeling off on the s*p*r*lex 2? Mine is peeling after only a weeks use.
  32. S

    Reading glasses

That just about covers it! Lol!
  33. S

    Nela trowel bent

Mine is coming unstuck. Anyone else had this with nela or any other s/f trowel? Getting worse as water/ plaster gets in. Only used for last trowel.

    Advice on sand

    Not anymore its not.
  35. S

    A watcher.

I start flicking water around or splattering the gear in their direction. Only if they're really getting on ya tits though.I got watched for 5 days solid back in the 80s. I mean an armchair job! Then when It was pay time, not a soul in the house
  36. S

    My hand hurts.

Only your hand? My everything hurts! And you know your f#cked when you wake up in the morning in pain and look in the microwave for your painkillers! Or is that dimentia?
  37. S

    A watcher.

    One costing? Coating!! Lol!
  38. S

    A watcher.

All this one costing, sponging etc. No wonder the prices are ****. The faster you knock out the work, the less they want to pay.
  39. S

    Blown is render

I used Lb last week. It was like mud! Used to be best.
  40. S

can you remember when everyone had a lad/labourer!!!

Was thinking same thing last week.Nobody I know on site has a labourer anymore. Shows how the prices are way behind. You get nothing for prep anymore, nothing for extra height, nothing for detail and there's no money on the job for labourer. We were all better off 20 years ago.
  41. S

    I fcuking hate site work!

Suppose you have to wear a harness too. Madness.
  42. S

does anyone still use skim beads?

No. I hit all the flat and leave window walls etc for the other spreads that work with me. Lol!
  43. S

    I fcuking hate site work!

I used to hate that but the last few years I staple the skrim up on those.
  44. S

    concrete ceiling patch

    Not technical enough?
  45. S

    Ebay and Nela

Yeah been using my work Buddy's speed skim but so set in my ways its hard to convert even though I clearly see the benefit! Must change as its all about metres now and you gotta be a metre eater on site now or your wasting your time.
  46. S

    Ebay and Nela

Sounds good. So can you use a s*p*r*lex much sooner than you would a plazzi? The plazzi has made my life much easier so if the super flex is as everyone says, better then I can't wait to get mine.Started getting arthritis in my hands so anything to cut down the trowelling is a must now.
  47. S

    Ebay and Nela

All this talk about nela s*p*r*lex has made me order one. Should arrive just after I finish skimming a house and start a render on an outside! Typical.
