And back in the real world of boxing, my super heavyweight Harv Dykes boxes in the National finals this Saturday. At the weekend he pulled off 2 big upsets. Saturday he beat England Boxing’s golden boy William Howe and Sunday beat the GB number 1 Courtney Bennett. Not bad for a little club near...
If any of you want to watch the best this country has to offer, the National Amateur semi finals are live this weekend on You Tube. The link is on the England Boxing website . I have a vested interest as I have a super heavyweight who should end up in next weeks final. Going pro in March hopefully.
AJ should wear him down and stop him late on. Usyk is not big enough to hold him off over 12 rounds. The guy to watch out for as the next big thing is Rico Itauma. Thrashed Joyce in sparring and too agile for AJ in camp. 6ft 5 112kg and not 17 until December. World champ by 22
Exercise is great for your overall health but won’t help if you’re eating s**t. The best way is to cut out beer during the week and have takeaways as a treat. Controlling the portion size is the main thing .
It’s purely an exhibition with 16oz gloves and headguards. No one will get hurt and it’ll be a spar at best. Why anyone would think Tyson would be allowed a license at his age is ridiculous. He was shot to bits in his last 2 fights and Jones has no punch resistance left.
That’s true , in those days you could draw the “color line” to avoid a top black contender. Didn’t always happen though, money’s still money at the end of the day.
Whatever you get you pay 20% on it next year plus we’ll have this July and the January bill to pay. Hope the work picks up or we’ll struggle.
Sometimes we’d all be better off on the cards !
A lot of amateur boxing clubs have received funding from England Boxing to help them pay rent. Obviously they need to be up and running to carry on the rest of the season. Some of us have been lucky enough to find places to train a few of the lads thank god .
No , what I said was completely different. I just stated the fact that The vast majority of casualties would have died through underlying issues as well as the virus.
No , I wouldn’t be so flippant as to say they were going to die anyway. The fact remains that the vast majority of fatalities had underlying health issues. Even the older generation will be likely to survive the virus if they’re in good health with no health problems.
I can’t afford to stay at home otherwise I’d be glad to. I’m certainly not alone and when the sites open up next week every one will be fighting to get back.
I said I walked to the shops with my wife. Only one at a time is allowed in so no problem there. If you don’t want to work and don’t need the money then that’s fine. Most on here would go back if they had the materials.
And you’re right , most people agree with me. My phone hasn’t stopped...
I wouldn’t have done either, I’ve had worse hangovers to be honest. It was my wife who phoned. I was on there for all of 3 mins ! I merely ticked all the boxes for it doesn’t mean to say it was a definite. All of us who felt rough probably had a mild case of it but carried on as normal, who knows ?
It could have been anything. We’ve all gone in feeling rough and worked through it. As I said before they were diagnosing you over the phone then ,there was no testing. You would have ticked the boxes for the virus but doesn’t mean you’ve actually had it.
Exactly. As they weren’t doing tests at that time and my wife is a keyworker she phoned the doctor. This was due to the fact that she works with vulnerable children and didn’t want to go in if I had it. I ticked most of the boxes as far as the doc was concerned but it also could have been...
Had flu once, was absolutely wiped out for 2 weeks. It was a lot worse than the virus for me(mild case) .Who’s to say I don’t get it again from the supermarket for example ? You can’t live your life worrying about what might happen , you’d never go out.
Why ? Some of them might have had it. Do you think they’ll bother telling me ? I’m working at a farm this week, got more chance of getting scrapey or foot and mouth.
Not the case down here then . No one stops families out walking from what I’ve seen or couples. It seems that you’re the troll as well as a blowhard and braggart.
During the last big recession (early ‘90s) work died off to the extent that I lost everything, the house, the van everything. I had to pay an extortionate rent for 5 years while supporting 2 young kids. Eventually through hard graft I managed to turn things around and get a mortgage. Not...
You’re coming across as a bit of a fool on here, surely you realise that. I’m sure most on here have the same plastering skills as myself. It’s called being well taught.
Scab ? I’m not working for a union am I ?
I’ve broken no laws, the government says I can work. The sites that have still been operating are far more likely to spread this than me. I’d never give abuse to someone on here, rather surprised that you do to be honest.
Anyway I’m really not interested...
You seem like a Copper’s Nark ! Anyway it’s nothing to do with you , I can’t afford the time off so if I’m able to work I will. On a brighter note a lot of the big sites are open next week !
Why would I tell them anything about my health when I’m taking a call ? The vast majority of the calls are inquiries about the potential work rather than if I’m ill. My regulars knew that I’d had it but was now ok.
Yes as I was to and fro between some of these jobs. If they didn’t want me around there that was fair enough. That was usually the older folk. I stayed in during the quarantine period and my wife couldn’t go back to work for 2 weeks as she’d been in contact with me.
Doesn't have to be made up...
