Thanks everyone for tagging @John j
@essexandy No idea, perhaps he thinks he won't get offered a rubbish cuppa coffee/tea from me as there's no functioning kitchen in the house :coffe:
Yes really struggling to source multi-finish, hope it becomes available soon - visited B&Q Huddersfield they...
Hello,
I require skimming of the living room (2.4m x 7.5m) including the ceiling.
The kitchen (3.3 x 7.5m) requires ceiling insulation, plaster boarding and skimming.
Electrician coming to first fix around 10th July so anytime after that would be great.
Thanks
Hello,
I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for all for your help and advice - it was all very appreciated. I hope you are all safe and doing well despite the whole covid19 situation.
Update: The company decided to knock off 34% from the final bill. Unfortunately, no tradesmen...
Thank you everyone. I have decided to get it all re-skimmed and I have been obtaining quotes. Some are suggesting PVA with just 1 coat of Thistle multi-finish whereas some tradesmen are saying 2 coats. Please advise... I don't want to be stung again. Thanks.
After all this happened, my painter showed me the products they had used and we spotted:
Gyproc Easi Fill 60
Dunlop Floor & Wall Tile Adhesive (I had no tiles so not sure what they used that for)
Polyfill
Wickes Admix Adhesive
Thistle Bonding Coat
Adhesive in a tube / silicone
So there you go...
It is a small 3 bed 1960's semi with a loft conversion. I am based in West Yorkshire.

Haha tell me about it!
Unfortunately yes they have from the loft to the bedrooms to the living room (minus the bathroom walls and kitchen as still planning layout etc). I even requested them not to complete any work in the bathroom yet they still decided to board and finish the ceiling with...
I guess I am utterly disappointed at the sub-standard finish of my walls and new pb being covered in this "slurry" and then the shock of being told by him that this is the finished skimmed look . I feel let down and cannot justify having to pay thousands £££. Our painter/decorator won't paint...
I will try and get some better photos especially of the edges etc when I go visit the property this evening - feel so depressed seeing the walls like that...
Several emails and whatsapp conversations were exchanged. I am going to go through them all and see exactly what was mentioned. However in our face to face meetings we never said to him cover all our walls with easi-filler. We repeatedly used the word skimming / reskimming and even in his...
Lol, to cut the story short, I was expecting a full reskim of the house and I am now left with easi-filler on all the walls and ceiling. The long essay is in relation to my worker marketing easi-filler and convincing me he has used a premium product.
Hello,
Please could somebody help me with my query as I am utterly confused.
We bought a house and gutted it all out. I required a plasterer to skim the walls and to put plaster boards on ceilings and in the new loft conversion etc. I chose a Ltd company whose quote was the highest thinking I...
