I’ve been doing this for 25 years now and In the last 12 months I’ve heard of 2 suicides of spreads I worked with. Has anyone else experienced the same. I worked with a bloke and he used to say that the colour of skim makes you depressed.
f**k SBR I won’t use it as it’s too messy and gets everywhere. I would just use pva on the scratch coat then wet down for topping. I know I will have everyone back up about using pva outside but what do u think the old boys of done?
Going to plaster a room for a friend tomorrow as they are trying to push the job on. Got there to find that there is 3 plasterers coming tomorrow and I’m in the most awkward shity room I’ve ever seen. Why did I do it to myself
I’m not young though (45) it’s less stressful on the body and it’s a better finish. Have u ever been told u can’t teach an old dog new tricks???? It’s a lie
I agree with you. Think it’s more for painters. I had to go on a 2 day course 2 years ago, cause the guy I work for got a grant. There was 6 of us must be 300 each per day??? Easy money
I don’t do site work anymore so follow my own work. Do you think anybody you work with would be interested in learning to spray plaster? I’m not looking for names numbers anything just thinking of starting a new business teaching people
The stud work/boarding needs to be pretty good but you can get away with s**t (same as skim) when uv used it fir a while. I’ve always said my finish will be as good as the boarding
Lol thought I might get that from plasterers being one my self. I’ve put the same question on a painters forum to see what they say.
See this as a out of the day to day grind and retirement
Would any plasterers be interested in learning to airless spray plaster?
I’m thinking it might be more a thing for painters but would like to know what you think about it?
I think there is money to be made in it

Sounds like an idea just worried about cracking like Runwith was saying as Ms20 is cement based and not designed to go on cement board.
What about treating the board as timber frame and fixing stainless sheet mesh to the cement board?
I’ve done the house next door in ms20 the customer wants the same sponge finish but the whole house is render board. Do you know of a product that is thin coat but with a sponge finish
Thanks
