Used one for about 9 months to give it a fair run, absolutely shite for troweling up for some reason drags more than actually troweling muck up... Ended up using it to just lay on and lay down with but it pushing the water back in to the plaster and when troweling up seems to make things gritty...
Milwaukee tripod light all the way maybe abit out of what your willing to spend but suberb light! Has 3 directional lights with a telescopic stand that goes around 8 foot tall, I think this is on the lowest setting in this pic.
Collect tomorrow
Milwaukee M18 HSAL-0 2.15m 18 / 110V Li-Ion...
Update for you all got a call back from them 3 days after asking when I can start as they are more than happy with the additional work I suggested... Apparently had another spread in said they'd do it in 3 days and quoted 600 quid but they said they didn't seem competent to do the job told them...
Lovely job! I will let them know I'm not willing to drop quality just for the sake of their purse strings... If they come back to me I might not have any availability till after Xmas
Two days work dude so not loads in reality... Only asking as not long been doing domestics, Il be making 600 notes off the job if they want me to do it not bad for 2 days work so my business is fine thanks for asking!
Random one I've had today...
Just done a quote for a potential client, as soon as I got there to price up I was told they've had another plasterer in and they've quoted 800 quid for the job and said its too high for their liking.
Now I walked through the job with them few heating pipes about...
I'd say your problem is you've mixed way to thick to start with and your moving at the pace of a sloth... As soon as your gear touches the water it starts setting put it this way you should be mixing for first coat around 13l of water per bag atleast (personally if I'm doing a big area on boards...
Dude I know the feeling... I was driving trucks after coming out of the army I was working 60+ hours a week starting at 4am not getting home till after 7pm most days it's wank anyone that enjoys it genuinely has a massive screw loose!! I was very lucky in the fact that my in law is a spread and...
So what I've established is the following.
- buy a transit custom customers love it and think your the dogs for having a 40k van when a 500 quid rat will do
- talk to the customers like they know nothing... Give em a good slap if their out if line
- make sure you throw plaster everywhere and...
Tbf I always thought I was a filthy c*** when skimming until I split a house with some geezer who is apparently swamped with his own jobs and I s**t you not he knocked up 5 bag gauge and 2 bags of it was on the floor! The most mess I make with a 4 bag gauge is a hawk full on the floor!
Yeah I can see how that could easily happen, what level of insurance have you got I've already got public liability so I'm guessing I can just bolt on to that.
This is why I started this thread. Before I decide to full commit to growing myself and my business I want to know what I'm realistically in for. Site work is nice and easy but I believe I'm ready to take the next step.
I have to say the only thing that concerns me is that first customer and doing the first job right and giving the right first impression. I take it il have to buy abit more kit to cover everything up
Aup guys.
I'm currently a site spread and just wondering how different is it to do private jobs from site work... I want to start doing some private jobs at the weekends for some extra dough, even if its just the simple stuff like how clean you are when your skimming or finding the work...
Other than my Saturday night platform shoes....
I have to say I brought a ezy-hop a couple of months ago and honestly the best but of kit I've brought worth every penny... Good size platform, light, easily portable and super strong give it a go you'll love it... Oh and it has two heights 300mm...
Miliwakee m18 mud mixer if you want a cordless could do with an extra couple of hundred rpm but the batteries last for ages like 16 bags a battery... Pretty decent investment
Funny you should ask that I lost a bet in Amsterdam and ended up shagging a dwarf... I thought id split her in two, she told said is that it... She was nipping my ankles
Update for anyone that's interested I contacted ezy hop and they sent me one out at a discount price which was ace I've been using it for a few weeks and have to say its the best bit of kit I own... Would highly recommend gives a sturdy and decent size platform to work on... Only thing I don't...
@Wayners i think I may invest in one as I'm sick to death either dragging my head through a ceiling or over straining... I've gotta have something descent as I work on sites
I honestly don't understand how you can buy a 490mm hop up for 20 quid but you want a shorter one and you may aswell cut your legs off at the knees seems the cheaper option
Have you used the ezy-hop I know there quite expensive but if they are worth it I don't mind paying it to save my back on ceilings that are slightly to high to do off the floor but to low to stand on a hop up
I'm sure this a common problem with us vertically gifted individuals I need to find a work platform that's 300mm high. I can't find anything i don't want a stool I already have one and I can't use stilts and don't wanna buy them I'll probably just end up on my arse staring at the ceiling instead...
