    Vans

I had Citroën before small van 11 plate. I switched to vivaro 17 plate and I love it. Loads more room, false floor at the back and I can slide around 20 sheets of plasterboard underneath, got a hatch for things that are 3m long. Fuel is pretty much the same, around 35/40 mpg, but I also got a...

    Apprentice getting to work

Push bike and meet half way if far or cycle to yours and go from there. They even got these electric scooters now. I used to take a bus to my gaff and when I passed my test drove to his every day.

Advice on render to use on timber framed house.

Rendering on ply is always got its risks of cracking, best option is to use insulation screwed to the ply and then go with silicone system over the top. I personally wouldn't entertain it any other way. Either that or use cladding and problem solved

I just had to replace my 11 year old Mt gold permashape, bought the same one again, its the best trowel on the market. It takes time to break it in but once there nothing beats it

    £5,000 for 2 small bedrooms ?

So is he on price or day rate ? 2 days for each bedroom seems fair enough to get it too really good standard. What's going on with the fireplace? Why is he dictating how much you should charge if you the owner of the company lol

What's your go-to music for plastering?

I love metallica enter sandman, casabian, red hot chilli peppers, green day. Depending on the day, I do like some old trance and club music on Friday afternoons.

    Site work northwest

£220 for a builder and getting in direct from customer is not bad at all. I'm earning nearly double that on private jobs, so for a steady income that's a good going imo. His boarding most of the times is bang on, I finish at 1 I still get a whole wage in, plus I get his discounts in merchants...

    Site work northwest

I got it quite sweet with my builder. Doing lofts £220 direct from customer. Gives me around 60% of my work. Then I'm off to do my own jobs which are obviously better pay. Stress free really. Pick and choose.

That is nuts, why would anybody leave it like this. The guy had no idea whatsoever and the lot needs to come down and start from scratch.

    Advice please

K rend on top of cement boards lol
  14. K

What is the best render option for this extension?

You got few options, sand and cement like someone mentioned, basecoat with mesh, either rubbed up smooth or with silicone on top or k rend. I'd personally go the silicone way if it was my house but thats just my preference. Id order some samples from different brands like eco rend, ewi, k rend...

    Sbr on plasterboard

You much better off using extra time for that, 1 sachet per bag in first coat and away you go. Saves guessing.

Advice on small patches which won’t dry/go

When I moved in to my house a damp patch appeared on one of the walls shortly after moving, went to investigate outside and the mupet from sky nailed the cable to dpc all the way along gable wall, rain was bouncing off and getting inside. f**k**g jokers lol

has anyone been knocked for payment before?

Mate, its always best to give him a call, arrange to meet up then spark him out. Just kiddin lol, meet up, go with him over everything he's not happy with, don't be cocky etc just have a chat with him like grown ups do, then at least you'll know what's what, he'll be face to face so it'll be...

A first timer on the trowel.. advice for a skim coat

Put it that way, it'll look better if you pay a decent spread to wack two coats on and flatten it without troweling than if you just go at it and half way through realise you can't do it. Some people will get it after 6 months to acceptable standard, some will take years to learn and still be...

Silicone Render - Licata System - Please help me I am pulling my hair out

In all honesty I don't think they can just fix it by slapping top coat on it. The whole thing meant to be flat and corners tidy, as your top coat only gonna be as good as the background. It's bodged and rushed and it's f**k*d unfortunately

    Ceiling boarding/plastering

Could be damp plasterboard, when plaster applied to it the paper started pulling back, had that once, didn't notice plasterboard being damp on one side. Ended up taking the whole sheet down and replacing it as it'd just sag like s**t. Just a suggestion though. It may also be that he's screws...

    Email only

I get a lot of jobs through my website, therefore it's all done through online contact application and then it goes to my email. I mean it's easier as I can schedule everything a lot better, if I speak to someone on the phone sometimes I'll forget the day and time we agreed on to look at job...

I try not to...

Electric switch covered in plaster, now light doesn't turn off

Holy f**k mate, that's rough af, we all had walls in the past that either sucked like cheap hoover and didn't come out as great, but that's far beyond acceptable. I'd definitely not paid him f**k all for that as he just f**k**g destroyed your room instead of making it better. And if this was on...

    Line and plaster inside fireplace

If you line it up properly and get the nice edges bang on tight then there's no point even plastering it inside. You want hetas approved boards, there's loads of them about, victas do their own range. If you really want it plastered then use the victas plaster but be prepared for a lot of...

    Coloured scrim tape??

Bg tape is the stuff you want, it's orange and that's my preferred stuff, don't buy p1stopshop tape, it's shite. What you want is different sizes really as I prefer 4inch for corners and 2 inch for joints

    New to self employed

I'd suggest investing in a proper website, with uk or com domain. Once you got that you can set up your Google account and analytics. A lot of people won't trust some random company with dave@btsport email and no website and only mobile phone. I mean its worth spending some money to get it...

    Dotting on to cement boards

Oh and mate, be careful with these boards, they snap really easy, one tap or even if you cutting it on bench and it'll snap, I used them few months ago, specified by log burner installer, I snapped one luckily I could use it on the sides as its £120 a sheet
  41. K

    Dotting on to cement boards

You want flexible tile adhesive and do s**t loads of small dabs, not massive ones and then just level off as normal.
