Yes a lime render with a breathable paint would help your damp situation Depending on how strong mix of render is currently on the building will affect the damage done to the bungaroosh beneath. Extra dubbing out or more than one scratch coat may be required

You might wanna consider 2 openings to the eaves storage area, if you just have one it’s difficult to get to the stuff you put in 1st. Make sure the opening will fit your biggest item. It’s not that common to insulate the storage area either but not to difficult to do with space blanket, your...

Should all buildings without cavity be lime plastered and rendered?

I render in brighton on bungaroosh using hydraulic lime no cement, then decorate with silicate masonry paint. But your right the vast majority just s and c, then the damproofing charlatans follow making a fortune as they go.

Plasterboard onto the underside of RSJ?

Insta stik is the best sticking foam there is in my option, I tried them all. Wear gloves. If you wet board with a brush of water, not much. Spray foam to board then kiss board onto substrate, take off and then re stick after 2mins with props under length of timber it's golden in 20ish mins. The...

    double kite winder

I do a lot of lofts and love doing these, much more of a challenge and satisfying. 2 coats of bonding and skim. worth taking bit of time to get right, the customers love them. i use a 6 inch super flex spatula (there not made that size anymore) for skim, its the nuts.

What's best; Vandex, Dryzone, or something else?

The membrane system itself isn't hard to use as long as you are careful when fixing it and follow manufacturers installation guide. The issue you have using a membarne in this instance is that you can't bring the finished wall out further than the cornice or it will look terrible. You would need...

What's best; Vandex, Dryzone, or something else?

I use the wykamol membrane over bungaroosh, have redone plenty of failed vandex jobs. Most of central Brighton is bungaroosh. It's a nightmare substrate to deal with.....
  41. R

What's best; Vandex, Dryzone, or something else?

if it's lime plastered it will need to be painted with a breathable paint to compliment the system. I personally wouldn't vandex onto brickwork without rendering first. Have done loads of damp proofing around Brighton and treated bungaroosh.

Remove screws, put gaffer tape up where rad brackets were exactly. faint pencil line on floor or skirting. Plaster, then remove before final trowel. the skim won't stick to the tape and allows rad to go back in original location
