    Makita coffee maker

Guy in work with me has one. Does the job. Can only make one cuppa at a time though. I wouldn't buy one.

    Ever heard of Google?

    Incorrect.

    Flexi trowel

Only use for polishing i do. I've got a nela flexy best trowel I've ever had. Lay on and flatten with marshalltown though.

    Newly plastered wall is bumpy.

That's really poor in my opinion, get them back to reskim.

What to do with belongings whilst plastering?

Why not just ask your plasterer these questions
  7. N

    Damp or Poor circulation

Could be a few things. Do you usually have things against those walls? Is it an open area or do you have a door? You could try cutting a hole in the wall and door (if you have one) and put a vent cover over it to help with air circulation. Or it could potentially be caused by no DPC.

    Skim over artex ceiling

Don't be so hard on yourself, looks fine to me..........

    Best Trowel

Marshalltown for laying on and flattening. Nela flexy for finishing.
  10. N

    Half time.

I only ever use it for patching in and it's usually gone within an hour of laying on
  11. N

    Half time.

It does work. But be careful how much you put in, especially if only mixing a small amount of plaster. Went solid half way through mixing with me before!

    Pregrit - any good?

Each to their own mate but I will never go back to using PVA. Unless I'm paying for it ha!
  13. N

    Pregrit - any good?

Bostik grit is quality. Not cheap but I dont pay for materials so who cares haha

    Quoins

Whats with the sarcasm? He's answered your question reasonably there. You didn't give any details about the job, size, detail, height etc so unless you give exact details how do you expect someone on here to give you a price for a job they haven't seen lol

Newly skimmed walls - is this an acceptable finish?

That's a terrible finish. No excuses. If you haven't handed over any cash yet, don't even think about it. Get the plasterer back that did your other room if you were happy with their work.

    Pva advice

Works perfectly fine for me mate ‍
  17. N

    Pva advice

    Use pregrit instead of PVA

    Rendering celcon blocks

I would give it a slurry coat with sbr. Leave it dry. Scratch coat. Top coat. Job done. I'm with you on the block work who gives a s**t what it looks like when its going to be plastered . Like a school playground with some of the replies you've had, just lads showing off acting like they know it...

    Artex or not - worried

The floor tiles are a lower risk than artex. Only become risky if you take a disc cutter to them
  24. N

    Bonding 60

Have you tried Selco? The one near me sells it
  25. N

    Anyone used this?

Anyone used this stuff yet? Thinking of getting some to try as I do a lot of patching in work so would be ideal (if it actually works). Just wana hear some opinions on it before I waste my money. Thanks.

    Tanking slurry and internal render

What's that like to work with mate?
  29. N

    Tanking slurry and internal render

Can you skim over with multi?
  30. N

    Tanking slurry and internal render

I've got a job starting soon that will involve tanking the walls and re plastering. Haven't used the limelight plaster before, may try it on this job. What thickness can it be layed on to? And I'm assuming you just devil float like sand and cement and skim over?

    Tapit tape fail

So this is a tape designed for sticking beads to walls, that fails to stick beads to walls? Which means it's completely pointless? Or am I missing something here
  32. N

    Tapit tape fail

Yes mate use them all the time i find them great

    Tapit tape fail

QUOTE="Neilevs18, post: 1282992, member: 40493"] Yes I always use them on reskims mate. Even on sand and cement walls they stay on fine, even the heads. I have had to put a nail in either side if there's a belly in the wall but if the walls are good they'll stay on no problem, from my experience...

    Tapit tape fail

I dont pay for them mate I work for a housing association so i just book them out. Selco I get them from. Saves so much hassle trying to get a fixing especially on solid walls.

Hook on beads all the way for me! Used them once and never looked back

    Prepping for tyrolean

Yeah I've read a few different threads since joining and like you said theres a lot of good advice on here from plasterers who clearly know their onions, nothing wrong with asking for advice when you're not sure about something is there. I consider myself a decent plasterer so I'm sure i will be...

    Prepping for tyrolean

The whole house was done quite thick with tyrolean it almost looks like rough cast. As long as the wall I redo looks something similar I'll be happy, it's only a small outside boundary wall I'm doing, plus it will get painted to match the existing once I've done my bit anyhow. Hopefully I get...

    Prepping for tyrolean

Cheers for the replies all, much appreciated. I agree with Lox on this one, surely it's better to get the background as neat as i can if it's not going to take me much more time. I do think some of you need to tone it down a tad though, it's ok to have a difference of opinion we all have our own...

    Prepping for tyrolean

Never done it before and happy to give it a go, no paying customer involved and it's only a small area so I don't see the problem. Not that I have to explain myself to you. Cheers for the reply though

    Prepping for tyrolean.

Hi all, I have been given a job in work to dub out and plaster a brick wall and provide a tyrolean finish. Just wondering how best to prep the wall ready for the tyrolean. I was thinking a scratch coat first, then a 2nd coat which will be screened off and devil floated? Any replies would be much...
