It's stronger, but you can get bubbles if not enough preasure is applied.

    What is WBA

Use on low suction backgrounds such as concrete. Apply like pva with a roller or brush. It's coloured, so you can see where you put it on, also only needs one coat. A lot of similar products, with diferent drying times. WBA is made by knauf and takes 2-4 hours to dry, where thistle bond-it takes...

    scribing coving

When you start cutting you still need to have your saw at a 45 degree angle, that gives you the slight curve.

Just had an idea, do you think a window cleaners squeegy would work well? Getting my mate to try it, cos I wouldn't risk it on one of my jobs ;)

You've already had to go back, and now you want to know if you can one coat it? How long is it gonna take you to put on the second coat! Personaly it's always 2 coats for me, except on the odd reveal or patching around sockets, but that's just me

You say it's smooth, could it possibley be caused by sunlight comming through the window and creating some kind of siloet(or however you spell it)?

    Skimming onto dryed PVA

When doing several hits at once (especialy in the summer) I find it imposible to have them all tacky. I hate it when you start to skim and only realise after laying on that a few patches were to wet and started to crack and slip down the wall.

Skimming With Lime Plaster & Building Control

Imagine if they done the same to all the old buildings in this country. Older buildings have to be refurbed using similar techneques. As it's a 1905 build I'm not sure if it's the same, but worth getting a second opinion. Mum done a garage conversion and had to dig a 1m trench to take a 2x2m...

    hourly rate

Only conservatory I've done had to go around about 20 crooked caieling joists no more than 10 inches apart. Also going up to a plastic trim alsong the top which was no nailsed in and would pop off if I used to much preasure. This was that bodged up job that I helped sort out a few weeks ago.

Had a go today on a patch repair (600 x 2000) on a boarded ceiling. Old ceiling was a bit pooie. Toilet waste wasn't conected properley, had to wear glove to remove poo boards. Left patch slightly raised around edge due to drying to quick, so applied mote preasure, which blistered it. So had to...

    150m2

I love going over board that someone else has fitted. No matter how many times I tell people, good number of screw heads stick out to far, joints to wide, and no support at edges. You could give an estimate stating 3 days, make them aware that any issues may require another day's money.

    6 week intensive course??

Your freind may have been lucky up till now. I don't think you'll learn much from tiling in 5 days, that you can't learn from trial and error. Done a few months labouring for a tiling firm ten years ago, learn't a bit, but not realy enough to make a living. It may not seem like much, but there's...

    Spat

Purchased a 1000mm one, whole thing looks like it cost under a tenner to make. Using it friday. All that money spent, and comes in a lovely hard wearing cardboard box. You'd think for that money it would at least have a case. Looks like my woodworking skills from school are finally gonna come in...

    demo

How hard is it to get to grips with machine plastering. Would a demo (if they do it) from a dealer surfice, or would I need to get myself on a training course. If the cost of a course is quite pricey, would I be able to learn from trial and error from a weeks hire and hitting my out building at...

    rough plaster

Soft cloth like a t-shirt can take up most dust. But I wouldn't worry to much about it
  43. L

    Criticism welcome

If paints up ok then don't worry. Can be down to diferent thicknes in plaster. This could be down to uneven surface underneath what's been plastered or to thick in certain areas.

    Car sliding off drive!......SORTED!!!!

Re: Car sliding off drive!......Concrete problem??? Nellys comment about pebble dash may sound silly, but there's a product called drive dash. You apply a resin, wack a load of pebbles on. Alow to dry, then brush excess off. Don't know if it'll sort the grip isue. Put a couple of blocks down so...

C&G Plastering - would anyone on here recommend it?

Done my c and g over 2 years, 1 day a week. The idea is that the bits you learn you can practice as you go. Ideally you need to either be working for a plasterer. I worked with a couple of builders who had basic knowledge, so got some experiance. I have at some stage or another used most things...
