I am not sure what way we will go about coping with it next year, I will be guided by my accountant, but there are various apps like Quickbooks which does it for you apparently, but there is a monthly cost to these which varies drastically.

CAN'T be bothered to do this s**t anymore

I've got to be honest with you Andy, when things are bad, I don't have a choise with cutting back or tacking things easy, I am either flat out and dedicated to my business or borderline alcoholic as I can't stop (I consider myself not alcoholic only because even in the bad times I don't drinkin...

Anyone else find life a struggle, nver mind running a business?

The last five years or so (not sure how long in total as my mind is strange) but things start to get better slowly. For years I pushed on thinking, if I just manned up I would get used to things and get on with work and things would be normal, but the weight keeps piling up!! I am putting...

Quality tiling, with large format floor tiles, if using laminate, a very good quality with good underlay, Oak/engineered Oak doors, architraves and skirtings. Stainless/glass cn make a place feel too commercial for me and lacks class, but a nicely made Oak staircase or handrails and spindles...

    Best Trade On-Site

Piece of piss like anything else, it's a gas in a pipe, more likely to get water leaking as it's under a higher pressure. If you can't solder your not plumbing, push fit and compression will only get you so far and is expensive in relative terms to end feed. It's a bit like being a skimmer and...

    Splitting an Electric Meter

Yes but if you were payig their electric bill, surely they can see the sense in that? From a practical point of view as the Leccy said, you can take one of the spare phases and meter it seperately, get a quote from your supplier Swalec etc? New supplies are extortionate, in this case might not...

Advice on getting bowed ceiling plastered

Yes looking at the laser line there is an inch of deflection, but over a fair span, just board it, add noggins where required and skim it. if it looks smooth when finished, only a trained eye will notice the difference, if there are any major twists in the joists, plane the high spots or dub out...

    Splitting an Electric Meter

Consumer Unit, DB, Distribution Board, same thing, no simple answer to this, it depends on distances involved, maximum loads that may be required with welders etc, I had a similar thing when I split one unit into two, simplest thing for me was to install a secondary sub meter so I could moniter...

Artex everywhere! Thick on the walls - Brown under the paint. Is it Artex? Asbestos?

It is indeed absolutely evil to apply, roller it and you end up looking like a smurf, paint it and you will take hours, but it does give a fantastic key on certain surfaces, I liked it over the artex. What's PVA like on artex for instance?

I don't have children, but I know I would have done exactly the same thing, don't mess with family. It's sad to read and the ongoing issues you still suffer from doing what most would think is the right thing, I have been around people with dark eyes as you say and the more distance you can...

Artex everywhere! Thick on the walls - Brown under the paint. Is it Artex? Asbestos?

I did a house full on the last refurb, it was everywhere, walls and ceilings ans it looked like it had been there a ling time so I didn't want to disturb it in case of asbestos. So blue grit, magic mix and two coats of skim it was, hard work but it looked great in the end.

    Thing about leaving forum

Sorry Steve, but that was my point, a one word answer when people are trying to help. I mean you have to engage and want to help yourself or nothing will get better on it's own, I am happy to help anyone, but I have million things going on myself and no time to waste.

    Opinion on plastering job

The last house I refurbished I used a plasterer that came recommended as he was an instructor in a local college, him and his mate looked at the job and we agreed a price for two coats top to bottom. They were rubbish, one coated everything and even argued the toss when I saw what they were...
