Hahaha brilliant, going to give it a shot for a year see how things work out. Hopefully for the better. My little one and the misses can come over as much as I will be going home so it might not be all that bad.

    Working away from home

Only reason I am doing it is for the money, and with little to be spent on accommodation I should be able to get ahead

    Working away from home

I see your point I am sorted accommodation wise as I will be staying with aunt and uncle so I won't be charged much rent if any as they know I am doing it to get a few £££ saved up.

First plastering attempt - can I re skim over new plaster

It might be best if you admit defeat at this stage as trying to fix something you couldn't do correctly at the outset will only make it more difficult for the professional to fix and ultimately cost you a lot more money. Fair play for having ago.
  15. Hawk&Trowel

    Would you skim this?

Yes bit of Pva. Don't slam the door on the way out :)
  16. Hawk&Trowel

    Refina sponge float

Buy one of these excellent for skimming, saves flicking water all over the gaff and skim water all over the curtains :)
  17. Hawk&Trowel

    Refina sponge float

    It's a false sense of security ;)

    Refina sponge float

It's the great debate here in Dublin with the spongers they think it's the holy grail I don't like them being used every hit.
  19. Hawk&Trowel

    Refina sponge float

I have worked with lads who use it religiously but they were never taught the proper way to skim, it has its benefits skim going off patching in ect, but it also holds the skim back and draws the grit to the surface and doesn't give as good a finish so I wouldn't use it. And it makes a mess of...
