any seen this before?
Rubbed up friday, but has left wet marks…
chipped off the old mono, but kept the basecoat as it was solid.
Render primer’d old basecoat. Then basecoat & mesh. Then topcoat.
TIA
how do people prefer to finish high flex basecoats like fx4 or star contact for EWI/render carrier?
Spatted flat and coarse sponged finished one yesterday in the heat but didnt like the finish I got compared to normal basecoat. Looked a bit choppy in the sun for an hour at midday........
Cheers
Does anyone have any joy spraying johnstones silicone enhanced with a Bennu set up?
Took me hours and multiple passes to get to a finish that was something like.
Ended up using 1500 water, speed 2 on drill. Trigger pressed down full pelt.
Shouldn’t be that bloody hard. Got the rest of the house...
yes iv heard this too. What’s best way to ventilate it? One rep said be better to build out the top section with lats then board it so it has a overhang detail with a mesh bead at the bottom to let the cavity breath…
If you saw the job it wouldn’t work wouldn’t look right.
Looking at a couple of bungalows where the top of the gables to the apex are to be renderboarded - running through into the lower level masonry.
Reps say i need expansion joints where the bottoms of board and block meet. Already know customer won’t want it.
Does everyone do this? Feel like i...
Okay mate might just try one of them then….I do like the way basecoats finish but was unsure whether the 10mm finished layer with only paint would be strong enough (without the silicone topcoat.)
Most specific OCRs have a. spec for 15mm
What’s the general verdict on the best OCR out there for a painted finish?
Got an extension to do. Leaning toward Johnstones OCR. Had mixed results with the Weber one. Didn’t know if there was a better one out there..
TIA
Spent last 12-18 months convinced thincoat is the way forward, and in turn have been convincing customers. But last few jobs have done in eco rend mono and they’ve been a dream. So much bloody easier. Got my little extension sat ready to do and I’m torn.
What’s better and why help me decide...
Thanks mate life saver, il get on them for future Weber jobs. Although won’t be using Weber thin-coat again in a hurry, too bloody costly for what it is.
Tried all local travis mate.
Bit of nightmare really. Job was specd with Weber tf system but id never used the silicone topcoat before didnt realised how hard it was this way to get hold of and I didn’t realised that a tub only did 5m2. Only used Johnstones , Baumit, k rend. All do a lot more...
I don’t get how, if it is the r&s we could be fine spraying on the Wednesday then have such a drastic decline the very next day.
But will be checking our water set up nonetheless, and will see if I can order one if these pressure testers after Iv had Les’s verdict.
Il ring Les tomorrow and talk about the r&s situation, see if there’s anything we’ve done wrong that could have sped up its decline.
This is interesting…maybe we are guilty of putting too much water through it whilst doing clean down. Il speak to lad I work with in morning.
Cheers.
Il revisit our technique for putting water in the pot. Pretty sure we’ve been doing that ok but will be more thorough. Water inlet is connected to top of chamber not bottom.
Explain to me (as someone who’s been in machine game 5 mins) how my r&s could be knackered after just a handful of...
Just an update on this one. Tried Weber mono (earth) for first time through ritmo Friday, had exact same issue. Got water setting right with amps around 6/7 and 15 on pressure gauge.
Put air gun on, stared spraying and after a few minutes the gear turned to piss. Had to drop it right down 140...
Cheers lads we will try using Weber through ritmo on next one sounds like it’s less hassle. Eco rend warehouse was a nice local pick up for us in North Yorkshire.
Hi,
Very very new to machine life.
Used our ritmo about 6 times now (bought from Les in sept). Just as we thought we was getting hang of it seems we’ve got an air leak as the compressor machine thing keeps making a noise…
Was spraying EcoRend mr1 the other day. Had water set on 280 (as that’s...
Do you ever come across pinoles forming in the texture with using johnstones? Had them appear on the last job. Basecoat nice and cured (over a week) Then primed and left for two days before texture, which was applied in cloudy conditions. Rep said it can be due to mixing at high speed with a...
Hi,
Looking for advice. Rendering a small gable (thin-coat system). At the top of the elevation above the doors to the ridge, a stone/brick wall sits back around 20mm from the main masonry cavity structure.
Customer doesn’t want any nibs so floating the section as flush as poss. But obvs where...
Thanks mate. It might be that I’m putting last bit of the base coat system on too thick then?. Used 10mm beads, base coat about 5/6mm, mesh then topcoat. (As that’s what Johnstones spec said.)
Hi lads (and lasses).
Still new to thincoat, done a few smallish jobs now (hand applied) last two in Johnstones. Iv noticed on a couple of times once sponge floating up basecoat that just a handful of small hair line cracks start appearing.
Cut one them out on Friday as we were doing it, layer...
Hi everyone,
Sorry to elbow in, but also seeking advice on lime plastering as working on a period property in the coming weeks and want to make sure I get the job done right.
Iv read up about the standard lime putty plaster mix, 'scratch coat, float coat, set coat' procedure...which seems...
Hi how long do you guys leave the backing coat to cure? Seen something on KRend website about 14 days!?
And can I use a cheaper off the shelf mesh? Seen Selco do some reasonably cheap.
Thanks in advance
