Thanks all, back from being dead again. It's not as bad as it's made out to be, you just see everyone from above. I'm worse than marshy here in hospital perving the nurses. Appreciate your generous offers but I'm fine and going home tomorrow. The reason I ended up being dead again was because of...

    Crumbling damp plaster query

Where did the lathing plaster come from ? , thought it was solid granite walls ? Solid granite is obviously cold and can definitely cause mould problems inside. Warm air inside condenses on cold external walls. In Cornwall you'll probably have local lads experienced in lime plastering, get their...

    Crumbling damp plaster query

Can't tell from limited info and 1 pic. Probably best to get a local specialist to look at it. But from that pic alone it looks like black mould which happens in areas where there is no air circulation plus covered in wallpaper. If you can see salts on the wall the 1st thing to do would be to...

    1930's Semi-Detached rising damp help

The guy was correct about taking out the course of paving bricks that butt up to the house. You should also dig down a foot or so and fill with pea shingle. This is known as a French drain and allows surface water to drain away from the building. While the polystyrene on the thermals is...

No such thingas rising damp, improve your underfloor ventilation, check on external ground levels and investigate drains. Pound to a penny if you hack off them damp areas you've got bonding plaster or similar

Has anybody used Natcem 35 on a tanking job. Does it work?

Looks like it'll cost you a fortune in materials. Normally you use a Sika system which is hard work and can crack or a membrane system with a sump pump which is also expensive but effective if installed correctly. Unless you're in central London or a very posh area it's generally not cost...

Concerned about damp proofing job just completed

Not bad thanks, had a liver scan come back as ok considering the amount of booze I've done in the past 30+ years. Still got shakes which only manifest when I'm concentrating on doing something e.g putting a screw in etc. May try the cbd oil. Cheers for the concern

Concerned about damp proofing job just completed

Salts are quite common. Wipe off with a soft brush , paint some watered down salt neutraliser onto affected areas , repeat if necessary. Eventually wall should dry out but Sika1 walls prone to cracking like all sand and cement. That's why I don't tank basements anymore , well that and my hands...

Tend to agree with you there about not dabbing onto the plugs but I got some Permagard pb2 and they say you should dab onto the plugs to make it more rigid

    Unibond super pva

Rule of thumb. Shake the full container of pva in the merchants. If it seems thick and gloopy- good. If it seems watery like fosters- s**t. You get what you pay for. If Stella made pva........
