So I'm a painter and decorator and I want to buy my mate a high-quality trowel or something for Christmas as a thank you for recommending me for a job. He's a plasterer, in case you were wondering.
The job has been worth about 14k so far with the possibility for loads more work, so I feel like...
That came from a local damp proofing firm and it's written in the technical data from Vandex website. They use vandex plaster or proprietary plastering. It allows you to decorate, protect the surface from accidental damage, and prevent condensation as it's single skin brick wall and will be...
Simple question I think. Apparently you can plaster straight onto Vandex. Now, I'm prepping the wall and applying the vandex myself and intend on getting in a plasterer to finish. The trouble is, I don't have a plasterer yet to ask the question: Do I need to leave a keyed surface for them to...

Thanks, for that. Yer the problem outside is sorted for now, just protecting against future failure. I think we are going to go with a membrane, to be sure. Then, stud and plaster as you would normally.
here's a picture of the wall. sorry it's so big.
Most of the house is the bungaroosh you would expect but here it's mostly brick. Perhaps because it's a bay window area.
Interestingly we had a damp proofing guy come round, and he's quoting to use a membrane, too. not sure the brand. is it hard to apply. was thinking of doing it myself.
Looked like regular plaster. Was very thick in places; 2 inches. No board, just straight onto the brick work. single skinned brick with render on the outside.
I was looking at these guys, they have quite a few other products which might be helpful, too. https://safeguardstore.co.uk/dryzone-renovation-plasters/
Thanks guys. The issue outside is fixed... BUT, I'm not sure it won't come back to some degree. Our neigbours hired a bit of a cowboy to fix it. So it's fine for now, but who knows. How much can lime plaster resist dampness? I figured vandex would displace it elsewhere; Lime will allow it to...
We had a penetrating damp on a wall. The exterior is fixed. the interior plaster stripped back to brick. When I stripped the wall the whole thing was holding water, but now it seems to have dried off. We Just want to seal it up incase the problem on the outside comes back and starts allowing...
