    Does this look right?

These guys/girls could not repair this work, you could attempt it yourself with an electric sander & filler but you’ll be a while & as mentioned the prep was probably none existent so it may well start to blow soon. Sorry but the fact that your asking on here and even considering letting them...

    Caught red handed

We had a tramp take our lunch from our shop front canteen in Blackpool yrs ago lol. To be fair he only took the food, I don’t blame him because the labourer had to knock the shed down on the back of the job he was living in but he went abt it the wrong way.

    Patchy krend ??

I’ve never used it but yeah I believe they are colour coded. I think it soaks in to it too rather than laying on top so it doesn’t affect the finish, (pits etc.) if so you might fine you still have the smooth areas around your worms, (first pass line) but I’m sure it will look better. Stick some...

    Auto correct!!! “Put your”

    Patchy krend ??

As mentioned it sounds like you’ve scratched back to your first pass, next time try and again it your 2nd coat on thicker and or flatter so you don’t have to take so much off. You also get small white powdery dots if you have hydrated bits of K-rend in the bag which haven’t mixed during mixing...

    Considering a three phase.

How do you find the XL? Would you recommend them? You had any other machines
  14. David2820

    Which machine would you recommend?

I’m looking at getting myself a machine, it’s for monocouche but I would be open to buying a multi purpose one if there’s enough people recommending them. I Have worked with g5s many moons ago so I’ve got an idea how they work. I’ll mainly be using it on domestic jobs & new build houses. I...

Some contractors paid £1.50 tack £2 dab or skim, but we got £2.50 for either one of the 3 measuring straight thru the openings with nothing for beading. £2.50 scratch coat & £5 butter coat & wetdash. This was for a contractor not direct, he had his long time lads who he’d of paid more too. I...

It’s down to us all to change that. It’s to easy to skim a wall & call yourself a plaster hence the cheap jobs getting done. I’m all up for anyone wanting to better themselves and having a go so you can’t knock it. You’ve just got to put the effort in to get the decent work. It’s never going to...

    Finding joist when over-boarding?

I’d buy one if it was any good

    Finding joist when over-boarding?

Sounds a lot of effort that one. I just lightly hit the ceiling/wall to feel where the joist are, mark then snap a line across. If I’m unsure I’ll put a hole either side of the joist to gain the centre. I’ve tried joist finders before because I hate the dust but they get a bit lost on thick lath...

    Straight from bucket or spot-board?

Looking at imago’s post which bucket do we use got me wondering how many of us use straight from the bucket or work from a spot board. I mix it up depending on the job, mainly site or domestic.

Plasterboard adhesive on old brick wall

Remember if you put a thin coat of pva on first that that thin layer of glue is between the adhesive & brick. Not necessary and could compromise the spec in my opinion, fine for skim bonding but not the weight of adhesive, board, skim etc but prob just me being anal. But deffo don’t want to...

What type of render is this?

My money would be on monocouche, k-rend, Parex, Webber or the like. Can’t see any fleck but could still be k-rend, possibly polar white or ivory, Parex 300... it’s quite difficult to patch the marks you’ve described without cutting them out and refilling but without knowing which colour it is &...

Plasterboard adhesive on old brick wall

Just brush off looses mortar & dust, wet allow water to soak in so the wall is damp but without surface water, Dab. It will stick like sh**. Trust me. If your concerned do this in one area with a small piece of board, say 5” square and try to Pull it off the following day.
