Bauwer lightweight insulating plaster on cob walls ?

Hi guys, Just wondering if any of you have experience of using the above plaster on cob walls ? We have an old cob house which will need to be completely replastered internally and externally. Any advice on suitability/application, including the use of mesh, would be appreciated.

Renovation of old cottage in Devon.

Crikey, I hadn't realised that 25% or more on an external wall would mean insulating. The walls are 18-20" thick and I don't really want to lose the original good lime plaster if I can get away with it. I have a feeling I read an article a while back, that said if you fell below the necessary U...

The cottage is near a Winkleigh. Fireline sounds like good idea and will no doubt meet fire regs.

Renovation of old cottage in Devon.

Hi Guys, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this one. We have recently bought a large derelict cottage in Devon, which needs complete restoration. It dates from the 1700's, but fortunately is NOT listed. The wall construction is a mixture of cob and stone. It has had loads of dodgey...

    British Gypsum Universal One Coat

It seems more suited to older properties than new build. The White finish seems to make it harder to spot minor galls and blemishes and again, if it were so suited to new build, then why aren't most of the big sites using it?. All the merchants I've purchased it from in the past, have said it's...

    British Gypsum Universal One Coat

I've paid just over £ 11 for a single bag, but guess you'd get a better rate for a larger quantity.

    British Gypsum Universal One Coat

A couple of our local merchants in Exmouth stock it - RGB & Bradfords, so I usually go to them.

I'd a feeling that was the case - I leave polishing a bit later & that will hopefully stop any blisters. Thanks for your input.

I rule it off & as you say, sponge it when nearly set, before troweling. I try to keep water to a minimum though when sponging, as it seems to worsen blistering. But you can get rid of them with the trowel or spatula, at the end.

    British Gypsum Universal One Coat

Hi Guys, i've a few bags of this over the years, each time thinking I'll save time not having to do scratch/float coats, but the setting time is painfully slow and the finish however well done, never has the crispness that multi has - probably was never intended to, but some of you may...

    Hi everyone

Only a few good ones !. Exmouth is still growing & with 4 or 5 builders merchants in the town, there is going to be a lot of work coming for the building trades. Do you do new build mainly or private work too ?
