I've just been to look at a job that's papered but I've been told that the ceiling has a lime / white wash on it. The paper on the ceiling has started to come away probably due to this. Once the paper is off and before I skim it what's it best to wash it off with before hand ?
I could ask around see if any ones doing any. I only do it part time now and my own jobs as I've came out of it as a full time job when recession hit. If I got In touch with a local firm that specialise In rendering do you think they would let me tag a long I have cscs card?
Hi im just wondering if it would pay to do a rendering course as i get asked occasionally to do jobs and turn it down from not having the experience.
I have my nvq level 2 solid plastering from the company i sub'd to had the assessors out and we did it that way. Ive never done rendering only a...
I thought it was some kind of kind of bonding mixed with plaster due to the pink color (Can't see it from photo) But was not sure in 1970s what was about so I've took a sample to take on site to an old boy I know see what he knows..
Been to a job today and it was built 1970 ish. The walls are covered in this
it's pink looking and very soft and chalky and some sparkle in it. I don't know if it's some lime render of some sort mixed wrong as I think it was a plumber that owned the house, so I guess he done the work himself...
I'm gonna pick some of the micro up this week. Couple of quick questions as I've never used it..
How long after applied can you skim on it ? and do you apply it neat or water down a little ?
Thanks
All different kinds of background the past few jobs with different paints on walls and some artex ceilings and they've all been the same. If we was talking about identical background like glossy/ silk paint or a greasy kitchen ceiling then I would expect it to hang and react different but not...
Well I will see with the red tub unibond. As I said I have done it different on past 3 jobs to see what's going on even at different ratios and I always try to give it 2 coats but when it's not drying or even tacky just wet through takes the piss :p .. Any way will try other brands as that's...
The past 3 jobs have all been at different ratios the last being 50/50 as I thought it was pulling and not setting due using too much water. So this time I thought right lets go 50/50 it don't feel that thick at that tbh but still 3rd job and same so I'm it got to be this stuff cos I've not had...
Hi the Last 3 jobs I've done I've had problems with the Pva either not going off even after 4 hours and it dragging or going like gum. This is then working twice as hard to get it flat. This is in a warm house and its a new tub of wicks Pva. I've just never known Pva to be that bad. I mix it...
Hi I do a lot of work on building sites and sometimes my own private work and I get lads taking board finish for reskim jobs they got on at weekends but i always use multi finish for them jobs but what is the difference and what happens when using board finish on Reskims.

Where do you get it from and cost ? Problem I have is getting the stuff for some reason. I'm going to need some in a couple of weeks and only place for like that micro is Nottingham as for that one you mention I've no idea where close would supply it. The Knauf brand I can't find any where close...
I've got a large room sort some chasers out and skim and with that blue grit can't get any thing on till next day which drives me mad.. :(

That blue grit ive got you have to do it day before takes full day to dry it says on tub. With that micro could get it on set up and get gauge on or two.
Ive got some blue grit but i find the grit large not fine and hard to cover like going over artex. 10l tub does not go that far and ive not added any thing to it as i dont want any thing going wrong.
£40.00 a tub sounds good I emailed parex and they gave me encon in nottingham as the closest one that stock it but not sure what they charge as i only emailed them today. Just waiting to see what they say. I thought i read some where that encon quoted some one £70 a tub so was looking if any...
Where is the best place to get betonkontakt from and the cost of it,Tried google but not much come up.
Ive emailed encon as there are nearer to me for the Micro Gobetis 2000 ive seen 3000 mentioned but 2000 was only on there site . Do they sell it per tub or do you have to get a few from them...
Theres a diffrence from banter and bollox.. Love banter and taking the piss thats great but that on heres pure bollox not banter. Talking a bout god on 2 pages aint banter just a load of a S###. It plasterers your all the same its like you all dont get out of your four walls and the dust melts...
Well my opinion is that all that stuff above brings this forum down.. Now I thought it said plastering on the topic section but I may be wrong. People come here for help and advice. You tell me what that looks like to them? A load of crap and some place they don't want to make any more posts...
