in the middle of rendering a wall at my nan's ,, i layed the top coat on 1.30 this after noon the bottom 4 inches is still sagging, i used a piece of wood across the bottom intsead of bellcast, will i still have this problem if i use a metal or plastic bead,, what do i do to stop this happening...

being quite new to plastering, ive never used browning, and dont really know what situation to use it in either. ive look on the BG website and it dosnt explain it in a laguage i understand, so maye be 1 of u lads can,, cheers.

it may sound like a silly question, but i bought some (no cracks concrete) fibers and on the packet it says to use one packet, to 25kgs of cement,,, how do u go about adding that in to the mix correctly. cheers

right...... ive rung all the builders merchants in my area and they all say that all the builders/plasterers use building sand 4 rendering. which is sand, that has been dredged from the bristol channel.. could this sand be holmes sand, also it looks really clean. cheers

just courious what p.i.s.s.e.s u off about skimming....... here are a few of mine. 1. sometimes when i pick the hop-up up it hits the wall. ahhhhhh 2. also somtimes if im in the right place. ill pick the hop-up and all the bits on the top of the hop-up go in the mix...... that really pisses me...

started a job the other day with 3m heigh ceilings........ didnt even cross my mind that my stilts may not reach... they did reach, but it was hard work. i perefer it so my head is a hand width away from the ceiling. what size stilts do u lads use also thinking about getting those skywalker 2...

still unsure about what sand to use...... the merchants in my area only sell sharp sand or building sand. also in wickes they sell platering sand but the particals are very large, very similar to the sharp sand. which1 do i use cheers. also ive ask the merchants what sand every1 else use and...

do u apply external angle beads before the scratch coat or after the scratch. cheers

when using the dots and screed method, does it matter if the dots or screeds have pick up while the area between the screeds are still wet..... is it gona make the screeds to hard to rub up. should i only work 2 wet screeds as a guide... tidy

when attaching external angle beads..... do u lads measure the gap between your straight edge and the wall on both sides of the angle bead to make sure the gaps are the same on both sides of the wall. also are there any check's i should do to the beads before i start (apart from making them...

when rendering im i gona need a 3m feather edge or will 1.8m be fine...... also i there any need for a spirt level longer than 1.8m also is it a good idea to have a small polyurthene float for arkward areas or a triangular shaped float. cheers

bit unsure what a dubbing out coat is. is it a scratch coat or do u apply the top coat when the dubbing out coat is still wet. cheers

ordered the nvq plastering book the other day and miss just picked it up from the shop.... and it really good definaltly recommend it to people learning the trade..

after uve float and set a room do u apply thin coat beads before skimming or scrape back the hardwall close to the exsiting bead and skim up to that. cheers also do u lads pva hardwall or C&S before skimming. cheers

is it a good idea to put batterns under the bellcasts to give them extra support.... until its set? seen another plasterer do it before..... just wondering if any other plasterers do it. cheers

do u wait for it to dry or render while its still tacky. cheers

roughly how many m2...... can 1 mix of 4sand and 1cement cover at 10mm and the same for 5:1 please. thank also is 1 mix of 4:1 or 5:1 called a 1 guage. cheers

ive noticed there's a few different types of tyrolean guns there is a green 1 made from plastic, which is about £90 and the flicking needles are spaced out differently on the spool..... or there's a metal one and the needles are all in one line on the spool, cost about £20 (and very loud) is...

can other additive be used as well as lime... like waterproofers. cheers plus is the main reason for using lime to prevent cracking in render also it a good idea to use it in internal rendering. cheers

pulled down a ceiling the other day... and it was hard work along the edges because of the hessian scrim.. cant get over how much stronger it is... than normal scrim. can u still buy this stuff

ive noticed wickes have got a new range of ss worn-in trowels out, the 11 inch 1 look alright, nice shape....the 18 inch one not bad, needs a bit of working in. they look a bit like mt.. have a look next time your in there. (sad b*****d aint i).

what age do plasters retire at.... surly not 65

probably another post that has been talked about over and over...... but do u use 90 degree Ct or 109 degree Ct for skimming. i currently use 109 degree 1.. are 90 degree 1s better ..... also dont know the name of 1 but it looks like a margin trowel with 2 small edges at 90 dergree... can any...

instead of using a spray bottle today.... i used a brush to wet the walls... i cant get over how much better, the finish is. :o :o :o probably silly question but.....how do u go about using a brush... while on stills.

when skimming on board do u apply the 2nd coat alot stiffer than the first 1.....or the 2nd coat thinner than the first 1...
