Fellas I have got a reskim coming up in a living room. The couple have just had there chimney swept so they can start using it for an open fire. Is it ok to just skim as usual or should I use heat resistant plaster?

its not expensive though. I think its around £300. You only have to read through a lot of the latest threads to realise that learning a different trade might benefit you. Combine the plastering skills you have with plumbing and get into bathroom fitting.

james get yourself enrolled at moulton college and do an evening course in plumbing. You are then still gaining a skill while you wait to get in with a plasterer.

i put a band along the top then do it in 2 halves. Top half then bottom. Im only 5' 5 so id have to put about 10 bands along the top to do the rest in one sweep. Im good in understairs cupboards though.
