if you find you get lots of bubbles in the first coat when its ready for 2nd coat keep your trowel as flat as you can when you go over it the last time beffore putting the 2nd coat on. this should flatten the bubbles and preventing them from coming through to the 2nd coat, works for me anyway. aj.

i have bought dust sheets that have rubber on the reverse this prevents the dirty water going through onto the carpet and you only have to put dust sheets down and not mess about with other stuff. put left over plaster into the empy plaster bags and any other rubbish. any dirty water left over...

wood expands and retracts with heat so it doesnt matter how much pva you put on them it will always crack. ive had this problem with old door frames left in etc...lots of pva, ponding, scrim....still cracks. id say to take wooden beading of and bond it up then once dry put new beads on.

as far as im aware theres no special way, done a few with just the normal materials, bonding for backing coat and multi finish for front coat, obviously if theres sign of dampt etc sand and cement with water proffer etc. as long as its left to dry for a good month before the fire put in it...

used the limelight stuff while ago on old cottage walls, this stuff is crap, the finishing plaster is hard to get a good finish on, anyone else have this problem? thats only for old cottage walls though? and yes very exspensive.

ive had mine about 4 years, just bought a new one to wear in while i still use this one though. its starting to miss shape so new one will need to be used only soon i think. 23 years :s either he doesnt use it much or its very slim ;D

if the rooms not to big i normaly do the celing and two smaller (oposite) walls then 2nd hit easier with just the two walls left :) but always try and do oposite walls makes the corners better. aj

its an old paint they used to use. and yes as you said its a nightmare to plaster over, once wet it wipes of and is also dusty when dry. best bet is to try and wipe it of, maybe with damp rag etc. you can plaster over it but it does somtimes come away so its not advisable. using bonding agent...

only kind of polished plaster i have ever heard of is when you splash lots of water on it and scrap it. nice polished finish, but painters dont like it as the paint doesnt suck in. i guess this isnt what you mean?

if you still get problems spread his name and address around to other trades etc... and you still got key? ohhh ;D when hes at work change the locks lol

my dads advertised with yellow pages, only got a few calls more the bigger jobs, he was near the back of the list though. if your going to do it try and start busniess name with A or as close to it as possible. also dad was always getting sales calls and they got his number from yellow pages...

brush? as in brushing the plaster on the wall? never heard of this. im same as danny only use inch brush for corners, also bigger brush to splash walls etc to trowl up.

hello mate welcome. in swindon working on peoples houses we charge £120-£150 a day depending on job etc. but by the sounds of it alot more can be earned. but if you follow that as a guide any more will be a bonus :)

as all i use the skim stop beads and clout nails also. bit of a pain if the walls not flatish to start with but doesnt look to bad once its all skimed up.
