i would personaly recomend doing a week course first then if you take to it and enjoy it then take it further and get a city & Guilds and NVQ qualifacation this will make you more attractable to an employer ;)

i partly agree in what you are saying, but what a 10 day course can give you is a starting base. from this you can analyse wether you have the ability to carry on with the chosen skill and take it further

what makes you say that the spread.... there is a variety of ages all with different levels of experiance. all that combined together offers some very good practical advice
