yes its a pain.....i just roller it but really slow i always wear a glove too.
i use pva when i can especially if its only a days work im not a fan of going the night before to paint it.
i would quote him........then send him the written quote and make it clear its all official.
this way you have a leg to stand on if he plays games.
you could ask for split or interim payment for example when upstairs is completed i want half the money.
you could add 10 percent on top of the...
wow......split heads bring back memories
on new work/solid floors i like stilts..... on domestic work i use hop-ups
wow battens and split heads ......we once was doing a sports hall with high ceilings so we used H frames and battens and one of the lads fell through .....with pretty nasty results
i am looking for a hand dotting and skimming on 4 new builds in Dewsbury. the dry boarding will be done. Ideally a skimmer or someone needing experience to work along side me. I'm not really after a gang . please pm me if interested
Dead easy to use mate..... Just make sure there are no trip hazards...... Once you get the hang of it you won't look back...the last pair I bought are faithfull and have been ok...durstilts are good though.
Tight coat of bonding if the pattern is deep.....Then multi on the top. Best job is to overboard and skim but that's not always possible or wanted. If the pattern is shallow and light two coat multi as normal.
I bought a small and a large speed skim.....I do use them but not all the time..... They are good on large areas and for the odd bit of bonding/ browning.
I use a stainless steel ragni...... I did buy an 11inch s*p*r*lex and to be honest I liked using it until it got bent..... So I got my old ragni out..... To be honest my work is as good as anyone's and I'm happy at work ;-)
It's the plasterer and not the gear.... He will put it on neat and quick then lay it down without the first coat pulling in too much.... Then he will catch it just right trowling it up before its set. Having said this the guy that taught me my trade always left it different colours but always...
I have both a 110v and a 240v..... The 110 I have had for about 10 years I'm not sure what make it is possibly refine.... Another plasterer gave it to me as he bought a bigger one and was going to skip it. The 240v is a b&q revolution mixer and does the job on domestic work :$
I have used one coat plaster over an artexed fan pattern ceiling...... Probably about 30m square..... It worked well infact the finish was spot on..... It bonded fine with no problems.... 2 problems in found it takes about 4hours to finish and can be messy...... So I usually do similar to malc.
I do remember the days before blue grit and yes we managed well enough.....we even used to use water to kill suction :-? Like many of you guys we were taught to score the area to be skimmed and either damp down or unibond....by the way I'm not saying the modern blue grit and similar are no good...
Try to find 2 joists close together then measure the distance between them this will probably be 400 to 600 ish.... Then you can measure that distance to find the next joist and so on.......if you find the joist at each side of the room you can then strike a line across the ceiling so you have...
Time and motion mate! It's only physically possible to do so much in a 2 hour period...... For me the main thing is quality not quantity..... Quality gets you referrals poor quality gets you a bad name. Quality gives you pride poor quality brings shame ( it is Sunday guys) my pet hate is...
The thing with extra height isn't just the cost as in price per square meter it's the extra time and effort doing the job.......it's relatively easy to skim walls and ceilings at 2.35 high but a lot harder and more time consuming to work at 2.5 high so in theory if you're ceiling heights get...
There are a few reason's why you should not use old boards of any description one is you can suffer from the plaster delamination problem...... To answer your question yes they easily get affected by damp and the foam will delaminate having said that some batches are worse than others...
Mate never assume anything especially where main contractors are involved....they want you to drop a clanger and come in cheap..... They also hold back info for that purpose. I simply won't send a quote in if I'm not satisfied I have all the info I need. I'm sorry to sound harsh but I have...
Hi....one of the first things you look at on a drawing is the floor to ceiling heights because it will make a difference to the price! It often says in a spec to buy the correct length of board. With any new build attached to an existing building there will be patching so it's best to look...
Tyzak for me but its just a personal thing.......as for size 11 inch every time again its a personal thing ....... I have also used a ragni stainless steel for a few years and it did me proud its my dotting trowel now .my advice would be buy one and use it for a few years until its paid for...
