    Sounds technical, troweling with a grout rubber trowell lol, seriously??? How long have you got for the gear to set on board? If you wait 2 days for renovating backing coat to dry/set/cure I take it you won't need to put any adhesive on for suction control?

    Distemper ceiling.

    I would personally use thistle bond it creates the best key for the skim to bond to, like others have said client might not wash the distemper of properly, expensive gear but cheaper than you getting called back, or the skim tearing on the lid!

    No offence lads but if we're looking at slowing down the setting off plaster then you shouldn't really be working on ya Todd! Get someone in as arti said mate!     yes the the glue is dry and it's much easier to use it his way, the only time I've ever had problems with av is when skimming the same day as @cassie says the pva will 'liven' up and it starts blebbing, the main use of pva is for controlling the suction of the existing background by sealing it...

    Are you being serious? The reverse effect? Please explain? Why would I want to go on site, wait 1hr or so even longer depending on conditions for the glue to go tacky?? I've seen me unibond walls in the morning and they've still been 'wet' in the afternoon! Never had any problems in 12 years...

    Just hire one pal from a merchant - unless your getting a load off properties without lecy I wouldn't waste money on investing on one 2nd hand- but new if you have the work load if not just hire pal!
