    Iv beaded hundreds of chimney openings they don’t crack, if it had a surround before it’s trapped the heat against the bead causing it to crack. Simply knock off the plaster. Bond out and fit beads, scrim bead edges and skim. Problem sorted, hour and a half’s work

    Last one I did was for a plumber who was adamant he was fitting it himself. I got him to send me pics all the way through and I went through everything when I got there. Still didn’t take more than half hour though, even hetas when they last came out to check mine were only 15/20 mins

    Whatever you do, don’t cheap out and fit it yourself then ask someone if they’ll sign it off for you. Not sure about you @Brimstone but I hate signing other peoples jobs off, I will do it but charge a small fortune for half an hours work.

    l*m*-g***n solo? Iv used a fair bit, it’s hard work drags like f**k. Best way I found a tight coat then drop back and second coat, I use a 600 spat to flatten in then 16” float sponge then last off hard trowel

    Nothing worse than waiting for it. I did a load of rendering, he didn’t pay me for 2 weeks I went round and he’d stood on the dwarf walls, damaged all the render and he wanted me to put it right for free
