    Its sand a cement like i said - im going with hydrated, i also know they are worlds apart as there is rendering where there is just lime and sand no cement- all based on carbantion etc for curing - like i said was just looking to see what others do but never mind i shouldnt be doing the job! ;)

    I know it's a stupid question but when your not doing it day in and day out there is things that you forget, well i do anyway! We normally focus all our work on internal work with the odd external but since they've requested lime in its just through me a bit!

    Rendering a fish pond

    heres one i did last year, stripped old render off, applied S&C render to walls then apply KA Tanking slurry with black dye in which has worked a treat makes the walls looking like they are made of lead, lush finish!!

    ive never had any issues with pva when i glue the walls the day before, would rather do that then wait around for hours waiting for pva to go tacky!!!

    Rendering a fish pond

    i restored a pre 1920s pond last year, what i did was, jet walls down, sbr walls, make good the walls, scratch coat,top coat and then i painted the entire walls with KA tanking slurry with the grey dye in, every visitor now belives the walls have been made out of lead!!

    Lads As im an employee i get told what to do.......... told my boss the forecast was to rain in the afernoon but he made us pebble dash 25m2 of a garden wall, the elements then hit the wall when it started to rain in the afternoon and at night time the temperatures dropped so i now have dashed...

    On the job just mixed my gear and the plumber arrives on site.....30 minutes later he says, "god my arms are killing me, 7 bags of multi and a bag of bonding i went through on saturday..... wasnt bothered though £350.00 i got for it just couldnt lift my pint up" What f**k**g chance have we got!!

    yeah was skimmed onto existing base coat which was lime based!! ha needed re skimmed mate that was 5m high working off a batten and a ladder against the wall, looks worse due to the wall being blown! im sure there will be allowances for a few dimples!

    Wow, done a staircase on a listed building, use very little water, dont use a speedskim, make sure backing is flat and the key isnt heavy!! dont think youve got much of a key though!!

    Thanks lads, got the product and the colour sorted, going to put a stop bead around the existing render once the door frame is out and its blocked up, will stand out but not half as bad then when it cracked and then water gets behind, no matter what i do it will be wrong to someone, atleast this...

    lads, got a doorway to render once blocked up with concrete blocks, looked in the building manual and existing render is STO through colour with 3 different batch numbers!! any idea where you can purchase this from as im not familiar with it!! also not sure what product is on the walls as manual...

    Got to say I'm up north and I have never had any problems, sets within reason sometimes will teare if pva still wet but I try to do my pva the day before so it's nice and dry! No problems over bonding or browning either!
