Yes there’s a few up here knocking that kind of money out , but I’m 50 now and been throwing s**t at wall since I was 15 , me or others will not work for £2.00 to £2.50 a metre so that makes work a touch harder to find

Couldn’t and wouldn’t know about midlands but around here it’s proper dog eat dog at moment, loads of work going on depending on what wage you expect

It’s not picking up like I thought , but with other things happening like carillon, brexit it can only be expected to be honest, and people thinking you will work for peanuts , firms going bust with no come back to them personally it all adds up to trouble on work front

Too long before second coat applied at a guess, sounds like it if it's happening everywhere

Scratch on, bed mesh then mechanical fix top coat as normal

cut 3x2 wood really tight fit into face it leaves a bit of wood protruding pink grip roofers lathe(25mm) at the side on flat steel then screw front part into 3x2 double board then your 50mm gap is filled . make sure pink grip set before you double board it

its a case of someone only knowing half of the job ! skimmings easy ,but insulated boards dabbed is a different kettle of fish , supposed to be drilled and mushroomed for fire regs and help stop them moving especially if its the cheap insulation ones ,and i'm betting on this without even seeing job

so you think a bit of lime will stop movement cracks ,i.e twenty ton moving in any direction will crack 15/20mm of lime ,cement or whatever you put on wall ,there's nothing you can do until it happens

whats cracking ? if you're applying and its cracking your doing it wrong simples ,fluffy mix you can use lime but you have used plasticizer so use it again sounds like you will be slow using it so wet scratch coat down first and keep it damp ,if you put too much thickness on in one go it will...

whats point , you have not used any in your scratch coat , so why use it now ?

I think what malc is trying to say is you will struggle to find a start ,with the whisk most plasterers very rarely need a labourer so in saying that why would you pay someone you don't really need ? spend time training them(you) up ,for you to turn round and leave and become another person to...
