Not sure what the fascination of big vans is about. I've got a fiesta van 65mpg plenty big enough for plastering tools for hardwall/skim Can get butt, board and stand, mixer, 5ft straight edge/ level etc. Customer supplies or I get it delivered. Get a man in if anything needs boarding. After...

    Plastering stair wall

Its about an hour to float that in sand and cement , you cant get much easier. unless your just a skimmer then you might have to dab it first and get a chippy in for a day to cover your f**k ups!!
  7. S

    Plastering stair wall

    You only a skimmer then!
  8. S

    Plastering stair wall

Sand and cement be fine kill the suction/dust with sbr before you start and keep the muck spreadable rule it before it picks up to much.

  10. S

    Greasy garbage yet again

I'm sure they'll sort you out with some premium stuff;)

    Keene cement corner.

If its just that one corner , stick board to it and then skim using thin coat bead

    Hardwall cracked once dry

It will be fine ,Hardwall cracks and crazies its another bg delight, you should have used their very good value for money primer. Finish will aso probably crack and craze too unless you control suction. I sure a bg rep will be in touch to sell a reasonably priced product to fix its shortcomings.

Advice on plastering shower feed pipe.

Another bg delight , dont get them wet, dont tile them, dont plaster them without using our special primer. How long before you cant use fireline if they might get hot and dont use soundblock if you use a radio, not long I expect now they produce the much more expensive glassfuck f

    Apprentice getting to work

Do you know a chap called freed he wouldn't get his labourer out of bed for less than £1000 a week
  15. S

Methods to assess condition of plaster?

Its a bodge, the only way to do a proper job especially if your some c**t who gets lawyers involved is to start afresh, that means taking the walls down and renewing all blockwork or plasterboard to give a good background for new plaster.

Tiny pin holes on plastered walls

Was the plaster smooth before painting. Did you water down the mist coat. You may be better off on the painters forum.

    Price on meterage

    Nightmare Client

Both are achievable but neither are easy options and you'll find it harder to find somebody willing/able to do it. Saying your on a limited budget, as most seem to be after spending a fortune on the kitchen Pisses trades off,so does changing your mind/spec after getting the job priced! If your...

    Apprentice wants out

    Shortages

    @Theend@
  40. S

    Is this acceptable?

If the lintels were the same height The fault is in the drylining, theres only 2 to 3mm skim coat
  41. S

    Is this acceptable?

The sight lines/ margins are all over the place. The margins on the left window looks totally wrong. were the lintels at the same level to start with. Was it dry lined or float and set.
  42. S

    How shiny is too shiny?

if its dry you should be on the way home or putting more on!
  43. S

    How FAR .

Dont you charge the customer for fuel, maintenance, travelling time, lunch, hire of tools etc. probably +20% as well;)
  44. S

Opinions on this plastering job please

Crap plastering by muppets. There should be no cracks whatever the age of the house, they obviously dont understand blue grit doesn't stop suction. Unfortunately another case of the gangs of Cowboys pretending to be plasterers and unfortunately the damage is done and your stuck with it!
  45. S

    Sub-par Plastering?

Thought you was retiring at 40!
  46. S

    Sub-par Plastering?

I' ve never masked up painted woodwork in 40 years. A plasterer can get it on the wall without smothering everything and a few bits clean off easy while wet.
  47. S

    Sub-par Plastering?

In freeD land theres a lot of 20%'s to add so that £10 bag of finish plus delivery plus ulez charge plus vat plus high rate tax charge plus subbie charge etc adds up to over £100 a bag ;)
  48. S

    Sub-par Plastering?

So he knows nothing about the difficulties plastering around sockets. I doubt he even cut the power!
