    no they've had a roof leek and because its caused some flaking paint and salt they're going to cut out the patch, it's not actually been cut out yet, i'm not sure how they're going to manage a ten mill deep uniform cut in a ceiling though, i wanted them to scabble it, but they won't have it.

    thanks for your input i'll give it a go, i'm still worried though, do you think it might be an idea to lay it in two coats, throwing the first coat letting it semi set then trowel on the second coat, just an idea.

    i've had an enquiry as to wether a sandstone wall can be tanked or not, the wall is sandstone rubble wall and is badly weathered and a small amount of dampness is getting through to the internal wall causing the paint to flake,does anyone know if something like ka tanking slurry would ok.

    if someone approached you who was a competent internal plasterer and offered to work for nothing on rendering jobs just to gain experience would any of you accept, i'm not a kid any more i don't want to make a fool of myself. if the boot was on the other foot i'd say yes but i'm a big softie

    i've always steered clear of rendering seems to me theres so many variables that can balls the job up but i'm begining to think i need to get into it. is it something you can get good at when you're only likely to to do it occasionally or should i just carry on concentrating on internal work.
