Know exactly what your saying.had several phone calls starting, i have been on a 1 week plastering course, how do i.seen damp courses done then floated up with browning.and told if you can piss you can plaster.lots of wannabe,s out there.worked on a site going behind spreads putting their work...
My senco duraspin is on its last legs near 10years old.one battery failed the other not far behind.so wondered on folks thoughts re other makes of collated screwdrivers.not a fan of makita had a corded auto feed and 3 heads in less than a year.
I charge £150 a day regardless so if they want me stripping paper its £150.if it only takes me 1/2 a day its £150 why should i lose 1/2 a days money cos they cant be arsed to prep.i also charge for removing rubbish or they can tip after all its their rubbish.get a price for all your materials...
Have done work for him twice before no prob.he was also given a written quote. my quotes and invoices state payment in full upon completion unless agreed previously, all materials remain the property of.he had an invoice. i think he thinks we are pals and his professional body builder son...
Just reskimmed hall stairs and landing.quoted £740 customer says £500.no says i thats the price.then says £600 he will supply.starts mid week leave off friday back monday to find 2 new windows so extra work.finished tuesday no mention of payment so i asks for it, pop it round later.saturday...
I tell the customer i cant tip so its up to them to sort a skip or dispose themselves.after all when did there rubbish become mine.most are happy to tip themselves.
Plumbers make 600 holes for 15mm pipe, spread will fill it. sparks who leave tails out and put sockets/switches where impossible to get trowel, builders who brick up door ways flush with skim one side 50mm tother.chippies with wonky door linings.the list goes on. and all we get is the decorator...
Do it but for f*ck sake go to college, find a plasterer who is willing to show you the ropes.DONT waste your money on a 5 day course the only thing you will learn is how to waste money. had to bale a couple of blokes who bit off more than they could chew.
Probably something to do with the 10 cans of skol super and bottle of red wine i used to drink every night.havent touched a drop since feb 99 not pissed in a bucket of skim for a while either.
Did wot i do to customers that upset me.pissed in water before mixing plaster when dry smells like sweaty fannies the warmer it gets the fishier it smells. the only way to get rid of smell is hack off and re plaster.
Only ever once left tools over night on a job.was a tyzak double shank, went back next morning to start skimming and got huge scrapes in my skim thought i had picked up some **** only to find customers dad had used to cut bricks.
I remember that good drop of gear but no good in damp areas. does the same as browning and sucks the damp in.bit like hsb made for high suction on old brickwork.
I always tell customers cant guarantee it wont crack with old plaster.as the new skim sets its harder and pulls the soft lime plaster causing cracks.i have seen a room over skimmed and as its dried pulled the lot off back to bare bricks.
I use the refina s*p*r*lex spatula and pole.best money i ever spent makes the job, especially ceilings a lot easier.just arranging mortgage to buy their 1000 spatula.
yep sorry machine sticker and lots of wires.after he told me mild heart attack bit shocked. he said if reading was a bit different would of had me straight in hospital.cheers for info as getting a bit worried.
Lol sorry plastering that wasnt stressful its been a bit of everything triple stomach hernia op may,4 months off, no money still got bills to pay inc the 7.5k for daughters wedding back in july couldnt cancel or postpone.bills keep coming xmas had to help daughter with rent and stuff.was saying...
plastered a small room out last friday 2.8x 3.0 walls and ceiling felt quite ruff thought the aches from being off over xmas.boarded skimmed 2x2 sunday still feeling grog. docs monday turns out friday had a mild heart attack.take it easy dont get stressed.
Dont work on painted artex either.i did a vinyl matt painted artex ceiling. each coat sucked like a whore on smack.3 bags on a light ripple artex. of i had used pva would have done with 2 bags of multi.
I always used tyzack back in the day of sheffield steel. then came the mickey mouse steel, loose rivets and and the blades would ripple. so marshall town now and the odd refina.
If its rising damp then its not his fault unless he plastered down to the floor.get it damp proof injected.you can buy in tubes now and inject with a mastic gun into the mortar bed.
Thing is whatever goes wrong it wont be their product.boycott it. when it goes wrong its the tradesman that looks a twatt.never the materials to blame, they just think knob head dont know what he is doing. PVA all the way it aint broke so dont fix ir.
Thats because it dont work.i had a phone call early in the year questionaire about a revolutionary plaster that needs no pva. i found the conversation amusing and kept saying to the chap it wont work too many variations of backgrounds, AND it dont work.
Its just crap i used it on over painted artex it sucked like a whore.manager in my local travis said another spread had issues with it dracking and shelling off painted artex.rep said gonna remove the over skim artex claim but as said blamed on everything else.stick to a good sealant and multi...
Did my neighbours house top to bottom. reskim over lime plaster sealed with sbr 5 years ago no problem.but it aint very good over artex. sealed 2 ceilings with sbr tight coat bonding, skimmed lot dropped off within 2 days.done the same many times before with pva never had a failure.
yes 3 coats cos each pulled in. i was expecting it with first coat, second i thought as no pva required (says on bag)would hang a bit but oh no straight onto 3rd bag it came back a bit with 3rd and lots of splashing. £9.00 a bag from travis.the artex was painted with vynil matt. i was cream...

Hi newbee here. just skimmed a 14x10 artexed ceiling with uni.it took 3 bags over a rippled texture all 3 coats were difficult as puling in as quick as i could put them on.not struggled like this in 30 years of plastering not even when i started.will stick to sealing conventional way and multi...
