I would imagine that Preston drylinrs are from Preston which is in the NW and Stewarts are in Darlington which is the NE. Its a bit cold in Blackpool this time of the years
That interesting it was either Monorex or Pral M i was going to use but TP are quoting £95 ( enough for 6m sq) delivered to site ready mixed (WET). I thought it was available bagged but TP reckon not
So keeping that in mind if using on a 1930 s built house (brick) the mesh wouldnt be needed. I know to apply the Monore in 2 coats wet on wet. The rep didnt mention any mesh. I suppose thats wht
Well thats the fire opened up not as bad as i thought it was going to be. The old back boiler is still in there got as much of the soot out as possible need to vacuum cleaner now to remove the rest of it
The Moral of this Tale
You have a damp problem so you get a damp proof company out to solve your problem.
They take the plaster back to brick inject a damp course replaster. Jobs a gooden BUT they dont do anything to solve the sauce of the problem.
MMmmmmm I think there s money in this
I ve taken the plunge and decided to go about resolving the problem myself. I ve got the walls stripped back to brick. I ve taken photos which I will put online .
My plan now is to go with a membrane. Was hoping to be able to plaster board and skim. Hopefully there will be enough depth to do...

My neighbour is ok he had his corrsponding wall damp proofed a couple of years prior and the neighbour on the other side are ok the last time i asked them but I know that they have a problem at th back of the house in their kitchen your kitchens back each other and mine is ok
Yes they did use all Sovereign branded products. Thats what was on the material packageing. There has been more salt on the walls since Damp proofing than before
I passed on taking the sovereign 30 year guarantee as i had to pay for it ( thats not a guarantee, to me) . I did call them back to take a look after about 7 months as I thought there was a lot a salt build up
Is it normal to get deposits of salt during the drying out period . For me I wouldnt of thought so as This is what you are trying to solve in the first place after going to all the trouble of striping the wall bak to brick using salt inhibitors tanking backing coat .
I had some damp proofing done on a 1930s terrace house that I let. The firm used are Sovereign approved and used there system. I was warned that it could take upto 18 months for the work to dry out sometimes longer and not to be concerned about salt deposits on the walls this was nothing...
I ve been asked to block up a fireplace and skim the wall.
I was was going to brick up the opening then apply a backing coat of hardwall.
Then i would skim the wall job done. Ooh nearly forgot to tell you i would of course leave a hole and cover with a vent.
Does this sound the correct way...

Just a quick question on when to use tanking slurry.
Different people give different explanations as where to install the slurry. Some say onto the substructure and others insist that it goes on top of the scratch coat.
For me. Surely it goes on to the substructure in ordeerr to protect the...
