Drylining and insulating solid wall recessed cupboard

Yes i thought about that but, the plugs do have a "lip" (don't know the technical term...the edge that prevents it from disappearing inside the wall) on them which would prevent the screw head from actually touching the wood. Saying that, the "lip" is no way near as large as the one on the...

Drylining and insulating solid wall recessed cupboard

Just a wild thought...hammer fixing would work just as good wouldn't they? The plastic plug would go through the battens, membrane and then solid wall. I am sure there is a difference somewhere but, just wondering and trying to learn a few more tricks and NO NOs...:RpS_laugh:

Drylining and insulating solid wall recessed cupboard

Fatarm, The plan was to place the membrane against the solid walls then drill through battens, membrane and solid walls and install frame fixing plugs and screws. Coptaza, i do not have the rest of the wall in a state where it can be insulated as it is finished and there if an old fireplace and...

Drylining and insulating solid wall recessed cupboard

Hi Guys, i have a brick recessed area in the lounge (removed the original cupboard due to damp in the wood). I am planning to fix some battens to the solid wall using frame fixings and then screw the plasterboard onto them. Will be using damproof membrane against the solid behind the battens...

    Can you attach plasterboards horizontally?

Looks like it will be battens nailed to the wall then and plasterboards screwed onto them. Would be too dificult to recess all the boxes in. I will post the result if successful.

    Can you attach plasterboards horizontally?

Yeah i know, OCD mode kicked in and i could not stop...my screw fetish knows no boundaries!!! ;) So you reckon D&D takes about 10mm. I have already placed all the boxes on and ran cables through 20mm PVC conduit. So i actually need to leave a gap about 20mm+ deep if I D&D as it is. If the dots...

    Can you attach plasterboards horizontally?

Better late than never...my phone's gone and i have had trouble getting my picture off. Hopefully nothing majorly wrong will be on there...well besides the bad habit of taking chunks out of studs. It is from having to deal with L+P...it seems to be the only way i found to make adding new sockets...

    Can you attach plasterboards horizontally?

hmm...good point DannyMac however, it is done already now. Hopefully the 2000 screws that we put in will keep everything nice and tight. Also they are 15mm deep sheets so quite sturdy. Yes NPS i will be skiiming it. Should be easier that the rest of the house i had to do. Skimming over old L+P...

    Can you attach plasterboards horizontally?

Not sure about the staggering. Can i not just start from the bottom (with an offsett of 100mm) and attach the first sheet which will cover the entire width of the wall and up to a height of 1.2m. Then do the same thing again with the second sheet which will give me overall cover for the entire...

Hi All, Back for some more wiseness to be sent my way. I have a tiny room 2.6mx2.6m (about 2.8m high) that needs plasterboards put up. I have 3mx1.2m plasterboard sheets. Assuming I use the existing studs that are left after removing the old L+P that made the wall, when i install these... If I...

Can I use regular 15mm TE plaster board in a kitchen or Bathroom?

Thanks guys that is great...i figured sarcasm was one of Nick's forte... ;) Anyway, now that i know they are suitable would you advise dot & dab or building up a timber frame and screwing them onto it or screwing/fixing it directly onto the wall. Two major factors: 1- The wall they are to go on...

Can I use regular 15mm TE plaster board in a kitchen or Bathroom?

Hi All, Newbie here. Just got an old house which i am trying to renovate before moving in at as little cost as possible. I have been offered some free sheets plasterboard and was wondering if their use was limited. I know there are vapour resistant and heat resistant (well more than the average...
