Hi lads. Got a sandstone house to do in bauwer.
Customer has specced 60mm on external walls and 40mm on internal.
What's best to use as guides as heard best to use these?
Customer is wanting it finished with the bauwer finish with mesh embedded but heard it doesnt leave a nice finish and you...
Hi.
Been asked to price a listed building. It's all stone walls and needs done in lime or breathable product.
Total is 320sqm
What's the best bagged product out there as not done any lime work for years.
Been looking at lime lite and bauwer.
Looking at £7000 to £8000 just in materials from...
Done plenty of scraped but customer adamant they want sponge finish...
Big areas so is colour ok or patchy?
And any tips as considering not doing job if it's not nice to sponge up.
I personally cannot see it being nice sponged. One lad saying he used a power float and sponge and looked ok but...
Offered to redo gable and he refused. I can't be doing with the stress so will have to pay and let it be a life lesson. He doesn't do courts or police etc so pointless.
Just what I have heard from other people. I not scared might get a kick in but wow. It's my wife and kids and house I worry about. Just don't want to be looking over shoulder over some rendering. Weber wanted to come and help and do a full report which he refused. I offered to buy new lights and...
Oh well it's not ended well lads.. Just had a threatening phone call from one of his associates. Half money back. Full house redone or his daughters done for free.
So £3500 cash back.
House fully redone £7000 at least with scaffold.
Daughters house £5000 to £6000
Been told of lad who phoned...
@lurpak cheers mate it sounds like you know what I going through lol. Will take what you say on board.
Forgot to say mid chat the cheeky git mentioned I was going to get front of my daughter's house done the same. I stopped him and said get someone else. As me and wife said why ask if I that...
Thanks mate and yes your right it's stressing me out.
Spoken to weber and sent them pictures and they said looks good job and sending me over information on false /glancing lighting to give to customer.
He was bragging about how much money he has put into house half a million and saying even if he did get a refund off me he still left with a s**t job. Best of it is he screwed me on price. Done full house and double garage £7000 labour and materials.
Well lads just been to job as was unwell. Customer is a dodgy bugger and said if he didn't know me he would want his money back. I said if regular customer I would say f**k off see you in court. He said I don't do courts lol. So it's ended with him wanting answers to see what can be done? He...
Yes good idea regarding the contracts in future on this light issues. I will have look tomorrow now scaffold gone and get new photos for opinions.
Thanks lads.
I going to see him tomorrow. Will take loads of pictures now scaffold down. I thinking what if I spray heavier with an old school tyrolean box? As I used hopper gun and compressor so is very fine which he also requested.
Thanks mate. I take great pride in my work and so do my lads so this hurts. No we didn't know lights were being fitted everywhere until finished. And not sure why his attitude is well changing lights is out the question.
Yes same house and same wall. Looks perfect during normal light. The lights he has fitted are fairly big up and down but yes I agree doesn't look great at night.
Hi lads. Iam prepared for the abuse. Yes it looks terrible with lights on and clearly the render underneath is not flat. There was 3 plasterers and a labourer on the gable and was derby but obviously still not good enough for them up and down lights. Customer has scaffold down and not happy and...
I have now offered to buy different bulbs and go around once dark and try and see if we can find one that doesn't make it look as bad. Failing that I will smash them off lol
The problem is lads. I refused to sand and cement render for this reason. He didn't want to pay for parex scraped finish so he showed me images of tyrolean and was agreed. I done one panel on garage as normal heavy finish that would probably hide any imperfections in render. But he said I don't...
He now messaged saying at certain angles of sun makes it look shite. Don't know wether to spray house again but thicker or just partial refund as don't want him bad mouthing me.???? The joys eh.
Thank you. I did say this too him so will show him this post.
Cheers lad. Take pride in my work and gutted that it's not good with the lights on night time but we can only work in the natural light....
Sorry no he saying when the up and down lights shine on wall sounds like the render float finish is what you can see.. the tyrolean top coat finish sprayed is fine almost like acrylic thin coat.
Done a big tyrolean job. Sand and cement floated up then weber tyrolean. Looks mint including when sun is on it.
Customer text last night he had up and down lights fitted everywhere and looks bumpy only in darkness with lights on. Gutted
Was thinking of trying to fill out with more tyrolean...
Whats a rock band got to do with it lol...
So you would knock off exterior and redo in lime. What about inside?
What do I do about sovereign? I was looking at getting on there approved scheme but not sure now.
I just going by what he said mate and said to follow there method if it wants guaranteed. What would your process be? Lime render? Knock off exterior render?
He said to give 1 coat of tanking to waterproof wall. Said only 1 coat as above ground level. And said can't inject sandstone. And said a coat of renderlite on top of tanking. And once renderlite fully dry insulated board and plaster.
Ha ha. I fairly new to damp work so asked them to look at the job and that was his spec. I
No above ground level. Sandstone front. So all outside walls on front are damp.
Looked at a damp job. Building is sandstone and mixture of rising and penetrating. Outside been rendered which won't help as we know sand stone needs to breathe.
Sovereign have said I should knock off full height. 1 coat of tanking. 1 coat of renderlite. Metal stud partition and insulate board...
