Got to plaster whole house walls and ceilings all covered in medium thickness artex.
My question is what do you find best way to get good finish.
Do you let PVA dry completely?
Do you skim while say bonding or hardwall green?
The reason. I ask is sometimes on the skim over artex its like...
Used the i think 1 meter spat the other day and thought it was great. Didn't even need a trowel to finish or use water. I used the flexible blade. The only problem i could find was getting the squareness of walls and ceiling spot on as very flexible. ANY TIPS I.E USE REGULAR BLADE FIRST THEN...
Thanks CKJ i shall source materials and get cracking. I'd really like to have a go at making it myself as the flooring mammorino i saw then other day was £350 per tub. Crazy money. Wondering how long between coats.
I really appreciate the help as info. hard to get.
is that all, are there resins or anything else to be added. I new we were being ripped off. Where do you get your marble dust from. Marble powders seems to have stopped trading. What is the grain size? I'm doing a lot for myself so want to keep price down. Liked your silver wax video. Shall copy...
Thanks mike. I shall buy book. Struggling to part with the money for Stucco dvd at £50 may get it for xmas. is it wort it. Shall check out other stuff. Someone needs to do a book etc . Got Goldtrowel dvd on walls
Thanks for ideas. Problem with this game is so many variatious techniques , products etc. Now i want to try polished cement and tadelakt and resin flooring at some time.
I want black granite look with silver specles. If you put glitter flakes in will they just act like grit in the finish and...
Thanks for info. on micro cement. I don't like idea of it cracking. I've done 2 bathrooms with carrara and classic white. Due to do another bathroom next week. Wanted some sort of black granite like finish with silver specks. Info. on net about floors seem scarce. Might do tadelakt for that one...
cAN YOU MAKE YOUR OWN. I have seen marble dusst and lime being sold on internet. Seems much cheaper. Can't help but think we are getting ripped off. What's the right mix for classic etc or micro cement. Or can it not be done.
By the way can't find much info on micro cement any good websites etc...
Just wondered if anyone knows of any good books or dvd on micro cement, tadelakt and venetian plastering. Seem to have classic highly polished sussed but want to broaden my knowledge of materials etc. Particularly interested in micro cement and tadelakt. Done venetian course at goldtrowel while...
never seen tadelakt up close but interested in using it for wet room. Done carrara and classic on top and water proofed and waxed twice before. Finish good. Does the water proofer take out shine of plaster a bit. Also what is difference between finish. Is classic smoother and shinier. The...
I'd want at least that for skim only. I understood your post as board then skim. I've never priced per metre as usually got to take angles into account etc but probably should do. I reckon you need 150 a day as minimum for plastering. Anything less don't do it do something else.
Thanks for replies. Luckily customer has said builder is meant to be doing it. Miscomunication. So only got to do skimming. Been plastering for years but only skim. Never get asked for anything else as usually work for same contacts mainly board work.
Got extension to quote for dot and dab walls then skim. Haven't done any but was taught. How much and how do you quote for dot and dab. Is there a set figure per board i was wondering how to price including materials. E.g how many boards will each bag dry wall adhesive cover.
I work £150 day as...
i think they are well over priced. I think you could use sponge. i've seen people who are good at it. However i don't know how to do it as not way i was taught but i can't understand why plasterers say there is only one way to plaster. Be open minded.
Got one and its great but rip off price for bit of plastic (replacement blade) and i don't think it will last long. Almost recovered it would be nice to get sick pay. I miss that.
So yo made the wooden tee and it lasted ok. If you scew the plastic to the tee bar won't that ruin plastic for finishing. Haven't done it yet as £15 for sign. Got to be some free or cheap somewhere.
going to be off for a few days had food poisoning so thinking about making my own plastic trowel sticking some plastic to my redundant 18 trowel. Anyone made one. Used a plastic trowel first time last week and thought they were great but maybe a bit springy to use early on in set. Whats best glue
what you need to do is do a bit of everything painting and decorating etc don't just do plastering and get a contact who gives you regular work like a builder not just word of mouth. I know this has worked for me as i moved area last year and it's hard to start from scratch. Once i moved...
Dogs breakfast.I just started thread on spray plastering. If you find out why it won't work please let me know as i think it could be perfect as spray much more even and quicker. Lots of advantages. When drywall is spayed this way finish far better and quicker. I was going to use a hopper so...
Thanks feedback. I think you can do the 2 visit method but i would of thought you could do it in one quicker. What i like about idea is price and less to go wrong. From what i've seen plaster machines seem slow for finish. And expensive if not using day in day out
Don't understand that. I would be only really be needing it for finish plaster. Seems to me you could do whole room in 1 hit without breaking sweat if it works and outlay under £200 if buying compressor second hand.
Would this work ?Get air compressor attach hopper gun and spray the plaster. Seems a cheap way to get into it. I saw someone using an industrial paint sprayer spraying plaster or dry wall but he didn't have a hopper. He taped and filled joints then next day sprayed. I thought that was too time...
Hi all,
Been plastering quite a while had a long time off and come back to it. Doing a job at moment and wanted to experiment with different method. I have always 2 coated and just used 13 inch trowel and 18 to flatten then back to 13 and used brush.
whats got me thinking about changing is all...
