Get some photos up on here and from there we could probably tell you where teh damp is coming from
photos of both sides of the wall would be good at the very least
Who here has any idea what my structural engineer is on about.
So on top of my 150mm type 1 hardcore he wants 75mm of blinding which is a dry mix.
He wants it at a ratio of 1:3:6
1 cement
3 sand
6 aggregate
What aggregate do you think he is on about?

I would say that water is hitting the ground and then bouncing up and soaking the wall...
I had to put a french drain (dug a trench and filled with pea gravel) around a building that had the same problem...
Maybe a gutter is also leaking above in high rainfall...
I actually like a private plate... mine re worthless £150 plates but they move from vehicle to vehicle and I dont forget the reg's anymore...

I was on teh mixer today helping a mate screed a floor and it nearly broke me...
I am contemplating just throwing 6x2 accross the room and insulating between and be done with it but not sure if that is a good idea... whether it needs airflow...
I have a 30m2 floor I need to screed. I really dont want to do it the the old fashioned way because I also cant be bothered to more 5 tonne of sand from teh front of my house the far end of my back garden....

I am stretching the limits on Building control at the moment, my internal floor area is currently 31.4m2 so I need to add some internal walls and more insulation to lose 1.4m2 of internal floor area.

I want to install a log burner in my garden office. I am right at eth limit on teh height for my overall height of the building... does the flue height count on permitted development?
My roof tiles are concrete marley tiles so they should be ok :D
So building my garden office I have been using a tower and all is well but I was too lazy to move the tower and instead used a set of steps...
After a few minutes on them I am thrown off them and land on my back on to of them...
I have hurt my back my wrist is not broken but severe soft...
I would pull the ceiling down or overboard...
In my opinion you could eat that ceiling and still be fine... but thats me...
The more you hang off the underneath of that ceiling the more chance it has to fail... overboard at least...
TO be honest we don't know..... very much like @essexandy as plasterers we have eaten that much asbestos over the years that we cant worry about it.
