    Your easiest way is to use tile backer board just batten your walls and screw it up, you need a flat, square and preferably level surface for tiles otherwise they will look crap. Never put fairy liquid in sand and cement, if the gear is to coarse as it is use plasticiser or lime

    The Denso tape stays on, it’s to stop the sand and cement getting to the copper. If the pipes are exposed give them a good clean after the slurry coat which you should do any way
