How long before we're in trouble with money?

Agreed mate, I started using my Dads old estate car...my first 4 years I was just buying tools, van, websites etc...never sore any money, remember going into Asda having to only buy absolute essentials to survive and just pay my rent. I guess what I'm saying is that if you can get a job for...

Good plan lets go back to square one earn just enough to survive, keep rates as low as possible and not prepare for a rainy day!

How long before we're in trouble with money?

Good luck mate but if I was in your position I would seriously be considering trying to get employment away from the building trade. I started trading in 2006 and didn't start turning a profit until 2010 due to the 2008 recession.

How long before we're in trouble with money?

Mate we won't be working until June at the earliest...that's if testing by the 100,000's is carried out. More likely October back to it.

How long before we're in trouble with money?

Personally I think we should do whatever is required to recover as quickly as possible then the economy will recover quickly

How long before we're in trouble with money?

Problem with Italy and Spain is they have large black economies...around 50% or more work cash in hand.

    For sale

You can claim if working...I don't think the government care they want the economy to keep going as much as possible, they will get the money back one way or another.

How long before we're in trouble with money?

Hopefully everyone will be ok with the government grants they were very generous and should cover most peoples outgoings. The main issue seems to be with newly self employed...I guess they will have to rely on universal credit.

    No lime.

I've always used to use Cementone integral waterproofer, just half the dosage in the top coat. 4-1 both coats...been past many jobs I did 15 years ago and still looking good today.

Thats why i voted tory & backed boris!!!

Agree there was so much litter around after the storms my city looked like a sh*t hole...If I was running the show anyone capable not work or low risk prisoners would be keeping our streets spotless.

Thats why i voted tory & backed boris!!!

You know to claim this grant we have to wait for HMRC to call us? They usually call on a withheld number. When will they call?

Thats why i voted tory & backed boris!!!

Great news...but we will be paying for it with NI contributions in line with employed later on. Nothing is free!

    update on our sites

Personally I think all construction sites will close but the government know most workers live hand to mouth and are trying to delay closing as long as possible until they have a solution for financial support for self employed otherwise they will be plunging alot of people into poverty
  19. F

    Petition...keep the pressure on.

We are all hoping the government will provide a comprehensive financial support package for self employed ASAP...there is a possibility it will come soon but we need to keep the pressure on. Please sign and support this petition that is gaining pace...

    update on our sites

Anyone on here think plastering classes and 'essential work'?
  21. F

    Genuinley confused?????

Agree very unclear and my guess is the reason for that is if he says self employed must stay home then surely liable to cover their wages? They are trying to worm out of it...also a Boris fan but if he doesn't support us he has lost my vote.

Estimate on Cost to Plaster a 3 Bed-Semi

Around 7K prepare and skim...around 12K to board and skim. Remember that experienced plasterers will sniff out if you aren't prepared to pay a decent rate and won't bother quoting. You are better off going on a course and doing it yourself will probably do as good a job as an inexperienced...

    Money.

Mate this is not a time to stop spending...think about it...it's time to spend spend spend and to come out of this stronger than other countries...to come out of this stronger than Europe...this is an opportunity for the UK to thrive...for us to be ahead to recover first. The only issue we have...

Well it won't be any good for domestic then will it as you can fill out to around 5mm even a bit more with multi over 2 coats to get a nice flat finish....some walls are all over the place. Can't see it being any good other than for large rooms where the walls are good...just need...

You don't by any chance work for the Daily Mail do you?
  29. F

    family

Definitely not, problem with plastering is you rely too much on other people especially with bigger jobs, will advise to get jobs which have the option of self employment and are well paid employed and that you don't have to ely on other people nothing worse than employing people always a let down.
  30. F

    money

Nothing worse than going in on a job putting in a fair price and then the customer saying you were double the price of another plasterer...you ask them who the company is and it's some muppet on facebook market place who turns up with his tools in a Lidls carrier bag.

I think the reason money talk pops up alot is because of some of the pathetic prices we see on here sometimes....

    Sorryi its late but

I had a woman once I priced a job and said it would take 2 days with a labourer...labourer let me down so I cracked on saying it would just take me longer then she tried to screw me at the end saying that I priced it for 2 not 1 so should be cheaper...b**ch

Every job I did last year was like that other than the ones on recommendation...quickly sorts the wheat from the chaff.
  38. F

    Priced up

In my experience the customers who want a really cheap job are absolute cheapskates and don't care how hard you work or how good a job you do for them they will still try and screw you over. Fortunately with 15 years experience I can sniff them out now. Most of my jobs are priced over Whatsapp...

Carys I can't work for £150...I pay my labourer £110 per day...more if we go over an 8 hour day.
  45. F

    Middle age and slowing down

No point saving mate...I just spend my money on holidays and experiences. I don't earn £300 a day every day that's what I aim for in fact I aim as high as possible to have more time off and put money into shares that earn me money even while I'm sleeping (y)
  46. F

    Middle age and slowing down

I meant rendering...not internal plastering. £1000 every day no chance! Maybe once or twice a year if your lucky!!
  47. F

    Middle age and slowing down

Totally agree, health and family are the most important...not sure what the problem is Carys? Better higher prices than lower right? Guess that means we have more time to spend with family etc

    Middle age and slowing down

Problem is Carys I'm sure there are spreads earning £200 - £300 a day but there is probably little work around there...so it's not that you can't earn this kind of money but more the case that there isn't much work... I actually know a few lads in North Wales doing very well £300 to a grand a...

    Middle age and slowing down

It's odd I guess people who work in large supermarket chains get paid the same as they do down here? and in general public services, teachers etc get the same as the South...it's only weighted higher in London? So why should trades people in North Wales get less than someone in the South?
