    cscs card

You can always ring up the CSCS ppl tell them u have lost your card and they send you a new one out cost me 30 quid for the replacement but it was valid for another 5 years , saved sitting and paying for the health and safety test

    Does this need re-skimming

Excellent work that, no need to complain , As long as you have plenty of time to fill it sand it and then maybe get someone who knows what they are doing, as whoever did that definitely isn’t a plasterer!

    Tool insurance

That’s a valid point, would probably be better putting the premiums in a savings account as a just in case fund,
  4. P

    New van

Can you drive that on a normal license? Would of thought you would need class 2 as a minimum, be good if you can
  5. P

    Tool insurance

It’s all the drills etc must have over 2 grands worth in the van, big chunk of cash to find if they went,
  6. P

    Tool insurance

Anybody have a stand alone tooltheft cover and if so who with, need it to cover tools being in van overnight and my public liability ppl do not offer this they have to be removed or the van has to be locked in a secure compound. Finding this exceptionally difficult to get covered just wondering...

Need new sds max drill looking for suggestions

Cheers guys got a few to think about, just out of curiosity is it just me finding it exceptionally difficult to find anyone who actually caries these as an off the shelf item, nearly everyone local is order only, I’m in Wigan so if anyone knows somewhere close let me know, Cheers.

Need new sds max drill looking for suggestions

Don’t want hilti, far too expensive as it’s only for hacking off, had Milwaukee just died and wasn’t overly impressed with it to be fair, struggled with anything that was tough. I have a couple of sds plus machines at moment but sick of bits breaking. Recommendations appreciated

    deisil per month

I’m wondering what they are going to do when and if they ban diesel, electric isn’t an option as the range is useless, and petrol vans at the moment are non existent. I’ve got some Jaffa cakes if you can fill the van for me that would be great lol
  14. P

    deisil per month

160 a month, diesel should be cheaper as there’s less involved in refining it compared to petrol.

    Plasterboards

Thank god it’s not just me, really got on my nerves last week to the point I kicked f@#k out of a few.
  16. P

    Plasterboards

Is it just me or are the boards at the moment terrible, just can’t get a clean break, it’s as if they have been wet, difficult to explain what I mean but saying it’s as if they have been wet is the closest I can get to making myself understood. It’s got to me last week, making a hard job harder...

skimming over gypsum core of plasterboard?

That’s why I asked if it was a ceiling , If it’s a ceiling I would recommend reboarding, don’t want them coming down on you, bit different if it’s a wall
  19. P

skimming over gypsum core of plasterboard?

Will suck like mad, but apart from that as long as the rest of the board is sound skim over as normal, good coat of pva nice skim coat and the jobs good, you don’t say wether it’s a ceiling or wall, but realistically there should be no issues with just skimming.

    Dabbing

    Length of 3x2 works wonders
  21. P

So what’s the problem here then

Best place for plaster price wise

How much is it in wicks on trade card, I get mine in b and q trade works out to about 5-90 a bag roughly
  23. P

So what’s the problem here then

All off now, back to brick start again tomorrow
  24. P

So what’s the problem here then

I think even worse is the fact they said they had installed a damp course, all they have done is board over existing wall without even stripping paper off, not one of the finest examples of work I’ve seen, Andy g you been working in Bootle by any chance lol
  25. P

So what’s the problem here then

    Dabbed onto the paper unbelievable
  26. P

    Hand on heart

Plastering is like any job good days and bad days, if it pays the bills and gets me my holidays I’m happy, as I got older I stopped chasing the money and do the jobs I want to do, find that works well for me
  27. P

So what’s the problem here then

Customer wants to know why there plastered wall was loose, so cut out a board to find this

    Help on this issue

We use the wykamol membrane and you have to use the tape to seal the joints, as they state if not used no guarantee, and to be fair without actually being there to see it no one can 100% tell you what it is thats causing the issue. If you have sorted where the damp was coming from in the first...

    Advice

Couple of things, is it a genuine charity? Are you sure you won? Some ppl may think this harsh but I would be chasing them if a genuine charity, it’s probably just been an oversight with Xmas etc, but could also be someone’s got a nice set of tools that they shouldn’t have

    Nicotine/ cigarette stench

Thanks for the help, been back today, the joists are sat into what appears to be slots that are cut into the concrete, some seem to have been filled with what looks like cotton scrim coated in an oil like sticky substance, and there’s then three over the living room that have nothing in them...

    Mental strength

Think the problem Andy is that you keep saying the same thing, people have genuinely tried to help you on here and you either call them a c**t or completely ignored what’s been said to you. There’s plenty of ppl who have had a bad time of things, they all have a choice to either wallow in self...
  40. P

    Nicotine/ cigarette stench

The soundproofing issue is being caused as there’s no cavity between walls so sound travelling right through, considering pulling a few boards up upstairs see how joists are fitted into walls, maybe a gap through the houses, I’ve seen that before in these things.
  41. P

    Nicotine/ cigarette stench

The wall is precast reinforced concrete, nofines from what I can recall has loads of stone in it that you can usually get to fall out with a stiff brush once you get through the outer 5 mil anyway, this stuff is solid, not sure maybe some guys on here have worked in skelmersdale if so it’s the...

    Nicotine/ cigarette stench

It’s not the smoke it’s the smell, I know I didn’t think this would be possible, No floorboards solid floor, I think I’m going to remove skirting and see if there are any gaps, which I’m hoping there aren’t . emailed BG see what they suggest, that is if they ever respond, cheers so far guys. I...
