    Dot and Dab Alternative

Yea I think I am. The doubt has come from when it was done and some boards failed but I think this was just due to no suction control when it was done. I am thinking to dab and mechanically fix with insulated plasterboard fixings? Just can’t afford it to not be done properly. Regarding the...

    Dot and Dab Alternative

Seems that way but just because the dabs on the pic didn’t take to the brick either it’s just seems never ending trying to know what’s going to work or not. Originally looks like it was a sand cement lime mix

1960s build. Bricks contain lime and all I keep getting told is that due to the lime, gypsum products will not work including dab adhesive. Some say SBR some say grit some even say Gyp line

    Dot and Dab Alternative

would sand lime cement render be suitable for sand lime bricks? Thing is gypsum have said their products arent suitable due to long term adheision and differential movement. Originally there was what looks like a sand lime cement render. Seems a bit far having to line the walls with metal...

    Dot and Dab Alternative

Hi all, Is anyone aware of any 'shallow' systems available which can be used instead of D&D? Needing something that can provide around 25mm depth including the 12.5mm board. I have seen some metal shallow lining systems but never used any. Previous dots failed done by another plasterer. It...

    Gyp prime

Has anyone used Gyp Prime for walls before Dot and Dab? Sand lime bricks walls suction level is too high even with 2 coats PVA. I know its expensive but not as expensive as re doing it!

    Plasterboard dot and dab issue

Cheers mate! Had different plasterers out today and every one has said the board hasn’t taken to the dab and that the dab hasn’t really taken to the wall! Un biased opinion shared by x3 different plasterers.. crap news but least it’s put my head to rest as I knew it wasn’t right. Think the...

    Plasterboard dot and dab issue

Hi yes I know the boards will sound hollow that’s not what I mean. The knock was the board bouncing against the adhesive that hadn’t grabbed that’s why I said it was blown like a rattle as opposed to a solid knock on a dab or hollow in the voids.

    Plasterboard dot and dab issue

Lol the point im trying to make is the pic that shows where the plasterboard has stuck to the board the big chunk is where it has properly bonded. In the past whenever pulling a wall off, the board would break and the dabs would be stuck to the wall still with the remaining board also. But...

    Plasterboard dot and dab issue

Hi all, just had walls dot and dabbed. long story short, the walls are brick sand limes that suck the life out of anything. The plasterer used a roller and put a one coat of PVA prior to boarding - the wall was bone dry almost straight away after this. Following day, one board sounded...

Hi all, Along the stair well, the original plaster with the backing plaster is still on (1960s). I have knocked the hollow parts off but there is still fair amount of hollow/lose spots a long the wall as well as a lot of hair line cracks (to be expected i guess). The question is, the plasterer...
