IMO don't have any scratch type render in your circumstances. You'll end up with mould and algae growing all over the place in no time at all.
A sand and cement render with a good quality paint or a silicon thin coat system would be more suitable and easier to keep looking clean and fresh.
@Danny for fucksake stop over complicating things. Put the 8 x 2's on and be done with it. No one, including yourself, will care about the depth of the roof once it's done finished.
I don't know about the sand around the rest of the UK, but if you use Febmix at the highest recommended dose with my local Essex sand you might as well not bother.
I've worked on loads of sites over the last 41 years and I've never seen a plasterer or brickie using it at the correct dose.
If your plasterer has recommended a product that he likes to work over then just go buy it.
Personally I hate Blue Grit, the grit is just too large for my liking, the green is far more friendly.
Plasterboard doesn't need priming unless it's been fixed for a long while, if at all. I've gone over...
I don't think there's much to choose between any of the main merchants, it's all about turnover and having a relationship. If you're buying enough your prices will essentially be set by the manufacturer anyway.
You're very welcome mate. As I said, there's absolutely no need for a trowel bigger than that, unless you're a rough c**t like @algeeman , what a w**k*r he is.
