Been a while since my last post, hope all's well with one and all?
Been decently busy of late...thus my first experience of this Spread-specific horror.
Thought it my duty to warn newbies, DIYers or even seasoned pro's fortunate enough to have avoided this up till now...
I've had that many near misses I thought I was just lucky/indestructible but got myself properly in the middle of a set about 1pm yesterday.
Flushed it out as best I could at the time but then finished 2 walls one-eyed and trowelled up. MISTAKE.
My wife (a nurse) had one look and sent me the doctors.
Went the GP, felt like I had summat in my eye and he sent me to A&E.
Nurse thought I was daft (though very kind, Angels they are) and said ALWAYS come straight in if this happens....1 hour of saline washes, cotton buds under the eyelids, rinse and repeat. UNPLEASANT.
They said it looks ok now but I have to go back in for check up this afternoon and for discharge.
Bloody sore and swollen now and off work till Monday.
Goggles for me from now on, a lesson learned. I thought it was only a small amount but evidently it makes no difference.
DEAR ALL DO NOT CHANCE IT!!! If you have to flatten it off and come back the next day to hit it again it's preferable to swollen, sticky eyes and days at home.
Message ends.

I often had the odd splash over the years and used milk to wash it out. It's still sore as Fcuk for days.Wet dash is even more dangerous,I remember most lads in Boston wearing plastic glasses as the veneer plaster over there has bleach in it and a little splash in the eye is agony.Best wishes.

Had same and was sent home from A&E only to wake at 5am in pain like fish gravel in my eye. They had not flushed eye out well enough and plaster had burnt layers of my eye . Eye drops and patch for 3 weeks:endesacuerdo:

Known in medical circles as a wet lime injury and it has to be up there with at least the equivelant of child birth or if failing that a really really bad paper cut

Have been fortunate not to get this yet thou havd had a stingy eye from dirty water when finishing a ceiling. When I was younger thou, I was welding a full day with no mask, you wanted to see the state of me the next morning. Felt like a right w**k*r having to get walked into the hospital like a blind man by my mother. Was off for a week that week with flash burns on my face and eyes :( never again. Have my papers in welding but f**k**g hate it!
