Aside from the usual, bad shoulders and knees, what do u rekon the long term health efftects are? it always says there are no known health concerns with plaster. but i rekon breathing crap in all day can only do u no good. what u rekon?

i reckon it could give us some bad respiratory problems in later life breathing that stuff in while mixing up must be bad, every day i keep saying to myself i must wear a mask when knocking up but never do sometimes put my tshirt over my nose n mouth but cant see that doing much.

I agree kebabking 100% ,they put health warnings onbars of chocy and beer peanuts and crisps but not "plaster" !!!
Just wear a mask when knocking ceilings down etc.

aspestos in artex scraping...think that could be bad......oh and callas on right hand......sorry thats not from plastering doh

There must be something in the gypsum that distorts brain cells, because most of plasterers and tapers that I know are positively certifiable.

Now lime is a different story, but Gypsum is fine.
Do any of you guys worry about the warnings on larger cans ???? No well theres ur answer gysum is fine.

I reckon getting married is worse for your health, going to work is all that keeps me sane. Its a real t**t when you have to have a day off.

i know 6 plasterers that died under 50 years old mind you not one of them died through plastering related illness

More likely the fact that you knew them rather than that they were spreads Mr Render ;D

Well i have smoked 40 a day since i was 20... no problems there... but when i was 36 i was getting sick of plastering so i thought i would do something else... being a diver for 16 years as a hobby and a bit of work int the tyne... putting moorings in and hauling stolen cars out as well as a bit of under water concreting i thought i would become a saturation diver as a few of my mates said they could get me a start and at a grand a day i went for it... but... i failed my medical... i couldnt believe it.. they said i had slight asthma... well i never suffered shortness of breath in my life... anyway to cut a long story short i was allergic to dust mites... and the doc wouldnt pass me fit... so i said these no bloody dust underwater and if i took a puff of ventolin i would be ok anyway... so im still plastering... still smoke 40 a day still shag without getting out of breath im 53 now so i think i have no long term effects...
